Applied English and Translation Programme
My name is Baran Nurata and I am a student at Ufuk University, Applied English and
Translation Programme. I’;m in the preparatory year and I am here to introduce the Applied English and Translation Programme. The Programme is located on the İncek Rıdvan Ege Campus. Our programme is a total of three years—the foundation degree program, plus one year in the preparatory class. The aim of our program is to train translators who are experts in this field. In addition, we receive the necessary training for consecutive and simultaneous translations. We also take translation related courses such as Introduction to Translation, Social Translation and Media Translations. Our classes are taught in groups of 15. We use speakers and projectors for training purposes. Thus, our listening and reading skills advance much more easily. In order to graduate from this program, we need an internship or project at the end of the second semester. The reason why I chose Ufuk University is because after the research I carried out on the internet, I saw how qualified the teaching staff is. I also visited the campus guided by volunteer students, seeing the classrooms and the library, as well as the other facilities that I can use these were instrumental in my choice. While I am studying in this department, I have got support from the academic staff and benefited greatly the facilities offered by the library. I am hoping to work in freelance on law and media translations after graduation. It would be in their best interest to take advantage of the library facilities for those friends intending to choose this university. Candidates for this department should interact with the instructors as much as possible this will be very useful for them. for those friends intending to choose this university.
