Finance Laboratory

I am Professor Elif Dağdemir. I am the Deputy Dean of Anadolu University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Finance laboratory was established in 2016 within our faculty. The purpose of establishing our laboratory is to enable our students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice in a virtual environment, since our students are equipped with a lot of theoretical knowledge, especially within the framework of finance and economics courses. In the finance laboratory, they have the chance to apply this theoretical knowledge in a virtual environment, which is very similar to a real environment. Our students can follow the market conditions of companies in the virtual environment with real market data and make investments in the virtual environment just like an investor. Our finance lab gives them this opportunity. In this context, we use Thomson Reuters' software in our laboratory. Our students gain this experience by using this software in the virtual environment, just like an investor entering the stock market. They can come to our finance laboratory with our faculty members or within the scope of a project whenever they wish and continue their studies here. Both the students of our faculty and the faculty members benefit from our center together. We have the chance to practice our lessons in our finance laboratory. Therefore, some of our courses are taught by our faculty members in our finance laboratory. This provides an incredible market experience for our students. Our practical classes will continue in our finance laboratory. Apart from this, if there is a demand from the market, we want to continue the applied trainings in here. These will be trainings and applications for the business world or the academic field. Our finance lab offers unique experiences to our students. These experiences are in parallel with the real market conditions. A data repository containing data for both companies and parties that will invest or trade is offered. With Thomson Reuters' software, we have the chance to access to the company information, fund flow information, foreign trade data and all macroeconomic data. Therefore, our students, faculty members or other stakeholders who want to conduct a financial or economic study about the world will add value to their studies by making use of the endless data pool in this laboratory and using the reports prepared by Thomson Reuters. The experiences they gain here will put our students in an advantageous position in the market after graduation. We have many recommendations for the candidates who want to choose Anadolu University. First of all, I say that they should come here by researching the social and educational opportunities offered by our university and the city of Eskişehir. Because this is a student city; There are 3 different universities and 3 different campuses in Eskişehir. Therefore, the possibilities offered are unmatched. English is an important tool for them to benefit from all these opportunities. Therefore, it would be beneficial for them to come here by strengthening their English language skills. But I would like to briefly state that there is an optional preparatory program in all departments in our faculty. Therefore, our students can take advantage of this opportunity when they come here.
