Video Production and Broadcasting Unit
I am Instructor Engin Kılıçatan. I graduated from 9 Eylül University Cinema and Television Department. I completed my master's degree in the same department -cinema and television - at Marmara University. I also completed my doctoral education on visual arts. In 2015, I started to work here as an assistant coordinator. I was the production manager. I was the assistant coordinator working as the producer of both the education and culture and arts programs we shot. The foundations of the TV Production Center were laid in the 70s. It was envisaged to be an educational television since the years it was founded. It has been designed as a versatile unit, to shoot series, documentaries, and some promotional films, but the target is mostly education, that is, it was established to produce educational visual materials that will help students learn from a distance. From 1982-1983, the focus purely shifted on education. Of course, the documentary, promotion and advertisement productions I mentioned at first continued, but the visual course materials produced here on TRT1 (Turkey Radio and Television), TRT2 and TRT4 channels were delivered to the students. Since these channels have changed over time, I have listed all three. This lasted until 2008. From 2008 to 2011, 3 local broadcasts were founded. A channel called TV A was established and local broadcasting commenced. After 2011, an agreement was made with TRT again, and both the culture and art programs and video course materials were delivered to the students via the TRT Okul channel. This agreement also ended in 2016, and since 2016, we have been able to deliver the content we shoot on YouTube via Anadolum E-Kampus system to students. These contents are course materials that will help open education students take their courses. We deliver video courses, which we have created based on open education resources and books, and which we produce in almost separate formats for each lesson. Apart from these, it works in a wide framework in accordance with the founding principles. There are documentaries we have shot, culture and art programs, live broadcasts, commercials, promotional films. All other events that take place in this university are shot and produced here.
The current studies carried out in our center coincide with the founding principles. Course content is produced in different formats. Apart from this, we plan to produce cultural and art programs, ranging from sports to literature, from literature to music and other fields of culture and arts. In addition to the current ones, our future goals are to share them with wider audiences, and as of 2016, we plan to develop our web publishing, that is, the broadcasting we do on YouTube. Our center has a professional television studio and equipment that a student may not even have the chance to use after graduating. This is very important for the student. Therefore, a study in any field in the pre-production, production or post-production phase will definitely be profitable for the student. With the experience they will gain here, they will be familiar with whatever they encounter in the market. They will adapt to life after graduation a lot easier. Our center also contributes to the education of our students. So it's not just a student-labor system. Courses are taught here by our Cinema and Television Department teachers, and these are great benefits. Students can learn all the directing and coordination aspect of production here. In addition to this, as I mentioned earlier, they can also practice. We have 3 separate studios in total. Our main studio is the studio we are currently in, which we call the "hexagon". We use this place for many different purposes, we have the studio digital platform wall, we have the green screen where we use the Greenbox technology. Here, we teach courses, and carry out the studio stages of commercials and promotional films, and live broadcasts. So we use this place quite a lot. We have 2 separate studios in the opposite building, under the former Faculty of Communication Sciences building. One of them is almost the same size and the other is the studios we use as “pocket” studios. In them, we mainly shoot the course programs. In total, we can carry out the work related to culture and arts, lectures, advertisements, promotions and documentaries in 3 different studios. Students who are thinking about choosing Anadolu University should know that they will adapt to their work quite easily if they choose us. Students who are studying in communication or related departments will adapt quite easily. There is a professional system here, which is about the same as any other studio anywhere. Therefore what they will learn here is very important. However, we can also talk about the benefits of the city for our students who will choose Anadolu University. It is very important that Eskişehir is a student city and that it is known for it. We can say that this is a student-friendly city that will provide the perfect conditions for students. I wish good luck to students who will take the exam. We welcome them to take advantage of our university and the opportunities we offer.
