Faculty of Open Education Economics

Hello, I'm Associate Professor Canatay Hacıköylü. I am a faculty member at the Faculty of Economics, Department of Public Finance. I am also the vice dean of the Faculty of Economics. The Faculty of Economics was established in 1993 to provide education within the framework of the requirements of the age. The Faculty of Economics provides education with the open education method, like the Open Education Faculty and the Faculty of Business Administration, which are included in the open education system. In our faculty, in addition to the Department of Economics, Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, Department of Political Science and Public Administration and Department of Finance, today, along with the Department of International Relations, we have 5 departments teaching in Turkish. At the same time, starting from this academic year, English Economics, English Political Science and Public Administration and English International Relations programs will be launched . In this context, we provide service with a total of 5 Turkish programs and 3 English programs. Since the Faculty of Economics is a faculty that serves with the open education method, we offer different opportunities to all our students through the education portal, using information and communication technologies, together with the Open Education Faculty and the Faculty of Business Administration, which are included in the open education system. These opportunities include a wide portfolio of practice exams, summaries, as well as textbooks. When students enter this portal with their username and password, they benefit from all the services in the open education system. It is also useful to mention the possibility of a second program here. Students who study in any regular department or graduate from a regular department can study at a second program in the Faculties of Economics, Business Administration and Open Education if they wish. One of the basic criteria here is the criterion of being enrolled in a department different from the regular department. Many of our students have been benefiting from this opportunity for years. Students of the Faculty of Economics can also benefit from the opportunity of a second program, as can students of the Faculty of Open Education and the Faculty of Business Administration. Students studying in any regular department or graduating from any regular department can study in a department of their choice as a second program in faculties within the Open Education system. The number of our students who have chosen to pursue a second program has increased considerably over the years. Students who graduate from any of the 5 Turkish departments of the Faculty of Economics can work in the public or private sector. However, when we look at the department, for example, graduates of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations mostly work in the fields of personnel and human resources, while graduates of the Department of Finance can work in accounting departments in the private sector, and in the public sector in the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, and in areas such as tax inspector and income specialist. Graduates of the Department of Finance can also work as self-employed accountants or financial advisors. Political Science and Public Administration graduates and International Relations graduates can also work in areas specific to their fields. For example, graduates of the Department of International Relations can work in the foreign relations units of public institutions and organizations as well as in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Graduates of the Department of Economics, on the other hand, can take part in almost every field concerning economics, both in the public and private sectors. We have students who take the KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Exam) after graduation and work in public institutions. The Faculty of Economics is a faculty that provides education with the open education method. Therefore, students who do not have the opportunity to receive face-to-face or formal education can continue their education life by studying in different departments. The reason why they prefer Anadolu University in this respect is that we are a university that has been providing open education services for nearly 50 years. As the Faculty of Economics, we are a faculty that has graduated close to 650 thousand in approximately 30 years. In this context, both the opportunities offered by our offices in all provinces and the intensive use of information and communication technologies play an important role in the preferences of students.
