Faculty of Open Education

I'm Associate Professor İlker Usta. I am the Deputy Dean of Anadolu University’s Open Education Faculty. Open Education Faculty was established on July 20 1982 within Anadolu University and is the first faculty in Turkey to provide open education services. Today, it is a very large faculty in terms of the number of students. With this feature, it ranks first in the world. The main purpose of the Open Education Faculty is to provide this service to individuals who are qualified to study at the higher education level. We continue this service with our various associate and undergraduate programs in the country and abroad. Our faculty has almost turned into a global campus with 56 registration and exam centers in 39 different countries outside of Turkey. In addition, it has given 1 million 758 thousand graduates since the year it was founded. In addition to providing our students with a profession, we have programs to improve their daily life skills and contribute to their social development in this sense. The Open Education Faculty has 9 undergraduate programs and 43 associate degree programs. Philosophy, Public Relations and Advertising, History, and Visual Communication Design are some of the undergraduate degrees we offer. At the same time, we offer various associate degree programs from Justice Program to Theology Program, from Web Design and Coding to Securities and Stock Exchange Program. The most important support we offer to our students is the environments that facilitate the learning processes of our students at their own learning pace, whenever and wherever they want, with the tools they wish to use. To achieve this, we use a learning management system called Anadolum E-Kampüs. Within this learning management system, our students use various videos, various course materials and practice materials, books in various formats, whenever and wherever they want. In addition, we have online student communities that we have created with Open Education Faculty students on the e-learning campus system. As of this year, we have 7 different online student communities. These online student communities are founded according to the interests, needs and expectations of our students, such as the Informatics Society, the History Society, and the Sociology Society. It is possible to participate in the activities of these communities on the days and times determined on the learning management system. Thus, it will contribute to the daily lives of our students. The online student community activities on Anadolum E-Kampus system are announced to our students on the specified days and hours, and meetings and interviews are held with invited people. In addition, Open Education Faculty students who want to receive face-to-face support can get the academic support they need by applying to any of the 103 offices located in 81 provinces of Turkey. Open Education Faculty students can use the books of both Anadolu University and the libraries of the universities in their cities without borrowing them. The Open Education Faculty is a very rich faculty in terms of program diversity. This richness also creates the enrichment of the characteristics of the students. Open Education Faculty students can easily work in both the public and private sectors according to the programs they study. It is also worth mentioning the following point here: The equivalence of diplomas awarded by the Open Education Faculty is the same as the equivalence of diplomas given in formal education.
Open Education Faculty is a faculty that has been continuing its open and distance teaching activities for 40 years and has gained a lot of experience during this time. It is a faculty that does not hesitate to share this experience with public institutions and organizations. Open Education Faculty offers a very rich content to its students with the learning materials it has developed. At the same time, it is an institution that has an e-excellence certificate given by the European Association of distance education universities. Anadolu University is a city university. It is a university that is intertwined with the city. Our students use the facilities of the university and the city together. When our students come to Anadolu University, they will have the opportunity to experience both the city and the university together. In addition, if you are studying in any associate degree program or if you have graduated from this program, you have the right to enter the associate degree program you want to study. Or if you have graduated from any associate degree program or if you are still studying, you have the right to enter the associate degree programs in the open education system without examination.
