Radio A

Hello, I'm lecturer Güzin Kıyık Kıcır. I am an employee and member of Anadolu University. I have been the program director of Radio A, one of the application units of Anadolu University, for many years. At the same time, I have been conducting radio programs in this unit for a very long time. Anadolu University Radio A is a radio established for educational purposes. In this station, we train students to become more experienced and practice in terms of radio programming and presenting, and of course, we try to introduce them to the sector. Apart from this, we have a radio that aims to produce quality music broadcasts and quality program content. Radio A is basically a radio that reaches a terrestrial broadcast, that is, a local area. It is a radio that embraces the city and embraces the university, but now it has become a radio that can be listened to worldwide through its web address. In this sense, we can say that it is a radio that keeps in touch with graduates. Radio A's programs and broadcasts in terms of content are pretty diverse. Therefore, we can say that our unit always seeks to produce new content. Our efforts to create different programs and to prepare various publications is one of our main things. Apart from that, we continue to protect our musical diversity with annotated music programs. We are a radio that always tries to deliver different musical programs and lists to our listeners. Of course, maintaining these broadcasts and the contents of this program in the coming period is one of the main objectives. Since we are also an educational radio, we also carry on with our training. Students who worked as a part of Radio A have the opportunity to work in great places, as they have gained knowledge and are competent. This is an excellent source of pride for us. Students who come to Anadolu University Radio A first go through a laborious interview process. Our candidate students who complete these interviews are entitled to receive intensive training for three to four months. After taking and completing the training such as phonetics, diction, articulation, technical desk, simulation training, public presentation, editing production, and ending the simulation studies, gaining experience in live broadcasting begins. After a long-term process in which they learn about interaction processes with the audience, guest-hosting processes, technical desk competence, and the excitement of live broadcasting, they have the chance to work with us. When they step into the sector, they already have the competence. There are important people who were our employees before but later worked as news presenters and radio programs on television and radio. That is such a joy for us. Apart from this, for example, students from Anadolu University Radio A are trained from the Faculty of Communication and different departments. Therefore, trainings such as speech, phonetics, diction, communication, and rhetoric that they receive here are very beneficial for people from other departments. For example, one of our students who went to the military said, “This training helped me a lot even in the military.” One of our students, who is a teacher, said, “I benefited a lot from these trainings while addressing the class.” We come across examples like these a lot. This makes us very happy. Therefore, it is a great plus and advantage for them to be able to use these competencies both in business and in their own lives when they start working in the sector.
Anadolu University Radio A has a live broadcast studio, guest studio, production studio, and recording studio. Apart from this, we also have a newsroom where our news is prepared and editorial work is done. Our application units are like this. Anadolu University is truly a university with many features. One of the reasons is because of the city in which it is located. Eskişehir is a lovely student city. Anadolu University makes the students feel that they have received a university education, thanks to its campus, technical facilities, cultural events, artistic activities, sports activities, and educational qualifications. For this reason, many of our students cannot get enough while studying at Anadolu University and miss it very much after graduating. Therefore, if they want to study at a living university and explore the limits of their development, we welcome them to Anadolu University. Our prospective students will discover and understand this many times when they come to Anadolu University after making their choices. They will find their limits. Therefore, I recommend for them to take full advantage of the university's facilities. When I was a student, I always had that in mind. I recommend that to students as well. I suggest prospective students use the benefits and opportunities of studying at the university to the fullest because the most significant wealth of knowledge is realized in university education. The experiences we gained before we start working and the qualities we gain are pretty important. I recommend that you make the best of your time. University exams are a breaking point in the lives of many of our students and young people. Therefore, at this critical moment, it is essential to take the proper steps. First of all, I wish all students success in their exams. I wish them a good education life in the universities they prefer.
