Faculty of Law
Hello, my name is Mustafa Ezel Kaya, I am a third-year student at Başkent University. I study at the Faculty of Law. Our Faculty of Law was established between 1997-98. The mission of our school is to teach students who are bound by Ataturk's principles, who are equipped with superior legal knowledge and have the appropriate cultural background. Our school concept is to present ourselves together with our students on the national and international arena through academic research. Along with this, it is necessary to create a Başkent School. In our department, we must take practical and theoretical law courses, alongside with at least two elective courses. Our university has courtrooms, which most universities do not possess. Here we put the theoretical knowledge we acquired into practice. After the completion of the four-year law school, we have a year of compulsory internships. These internships are designed for us to practice the legal profession. In addition, if we want to be a judge and work in the public sector, we must succeed in examinations conducted by the state. The Faculty of Law offers us many business opportunities: advocacy, judgeship, prosecution, public sector. In addition, if people want, they can develop in other areas of the private sector. Provided that they complete dual major and minor programs, they can find work in another area. Friends, another friend of mine who studies in our department, will briefly tell you about the experiences he went through, while studying in this department of Başkent University.
Hello friends, I am Ozan Karaman, a 3rd year student at the Faculty of Law. Today, the lawyers' functions have been increased and the roles they have undertaken in society have also changed. They went beyond the classical framework, they are no longer just pure practitioners. They also undertake different tasks. Legal education is not just legal education; besides, it is aimed to gain knowledge in such fields as philosophy, politics, economics where law is closely interacting. In this respect, lawyers are multifunctional. As a person, who have always been interested in humanities, I chose the Faculty of Law to develop myself in this field. Başkent University is a university, which did a lot of important work, which consists of highly-qualified teachers and is very well-known both internationally and on a national scale. I chose Başkent University because of the physical facilities it possesses, and because I thought that the students, who study here would receive good education. I have benefited most from the academic staff of my university. Our teachers are very knowledgeable, they are the people with open doors for the students. When we enter their offices, we can talk for a long time, they offer us some sources. In addition, our university has one of the biggest university libraries in Turkey. I am also actively using this library. The transportation facilities of our university are very good: in the morning, there are services such as the district service, hourly Tunus and Sihhiye services. After completing my undergraduate studies here, I want to start my Master Program in Europe. My aim is to be an academician. I think I am a productive person. I really love to learn new things and transfer everything I learned. The academicians, for me, are lifelong students, while they are studying, they change themselves and while they transfer what they have learned, they change others. This is really exciting. I think it is very important to leave something behind. Başkent University is a beautiful and high-quality university. Especially with its medicine and law faculties it is one of the leading universities of Turkey. First of all, those, who would like to choose law department, should know that law is a department that demands hard and serious work. Secondly, the functions of the lawyers really increased. They need to develop themselves in different areas. It is important to value their own development and learn foreign languages as they play an important role in society and because the law is a very challenging area.
