Department of Banking and Finance

My name is Sevgi Ekin Özlalek. I study banking and finance at Baskent University. Banking and finance department is a part of the faculty of Commercial Sciences. Our faculty is situated in the Baglica campus. Goal of our departent is to train qualified specialists to work in the banks and financial sector. First year we only take basic courses. Those are economics and statistics. During the junior and senior years we start taking profession related classes. For example banking transactions, banking and risk management. Working experience is a must, that is why students of our department have to complete several internships before the graduation. Junior and senior years a internship intensed. We can also complete internships volonteerely during cacations. To graduate we don't need to write dissertation, internship and GPA of 2,00 is enough. Those who had graduated from our department usually work in the banks or fund related units. We can also work in a private or pubic sectors. Besides that there are managing and expert job opportunities in banks. currently studying at Başkent University. My name is Melis Buse Oğuzarık. I am a second year student in the Department of Banking and Finance. The banking and finance sector are two areas that are needed world-wide. Because of this, there are many job opportunities in this field of study. I chose this department for this reason. While I was researching about this school, I discovered that all of the academic staff at this university are very well-equipped and qualified in all of their prospective fields. Secondly, I discovered that there are many opportunities to study foreign languages like: Russian, Chinese, or Spanish. These are other reasons why I chose this department. I believe that I can take advantage of the great academic staff here, because there are always available to us when we need them. We also have a wonderful library with a wide range of different sources of information that I use. I am able to take advantage of this great resource. We have a lot of green space on our campus. There are also places where we can organize social activities. For example, there are game rooms in our dormitories and we have different basketball courts. Apart from these, all faculty have their own special cafeterias. After I graduate, I would like to pursue my masters degree. After that, I would like to enter into the business world. I would like to work as a manager in a corporate firm. I would like to give advice to those who are thinking of studying in this department. I think you should determine your career objectives and goals first and then make a firm decision that this is the field that you want to work in. I think you should also work hard and if possible pursue the opportunity to learn a foreign language through our school.
