Faculty of Education
Hello, I am Nezahat GÜÇLÜ, the dean of Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Education. I have been working as the dean of my faculty for one and a half years.
My faculty has 5 active departments and 8 main disciplines. We admit students to 8 active programmes: mathematics, science, social sciences, Turkish, classroom education, pre-school, English language education and psychological guidance and counselling. We have 10 graduate programmes. These are thesis, non-thesis and doctorate programmes. Our students who complete their undergraduate degree here will also be able to continue their postgraduate education.
The academic staffs of my faculty are quite strong. There is 53 academic staff including 8 research assistants, 23 doctoral lecturers, 17 associate professors and 5 professors. In addition to this, we have 6 administrative staff and 4 staff in our janitorial staff.
In 2018, the education programmes of all faculties of education were updated by YÖK (Council of Higher Education). These include professional knowledge courses, general culture courses and field education courses. In this way, we endeavour to train our teacher candidates in the strongest way.
Our faculty is quite strong in terms of physical equipment. It is spread over a very large area. At the same time, we have 29 classrooms, physics, chemistry and biology laboratories, 2 language laboratories, a drama hall and a very nice cafeteria for our students. We also have various foyer areas where our students can spend their free time. They can both listen and work in the foyer areas.
The internship situation of our students is generally as follows: our fourth year students prepare themselves for the future by doing teaching practice in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. At the same time, students of our psychological counselling and guidance department not only practice in schools but also in Guidance and Research Centres and Science and Art Centres.
I attach great importance to our students' participation in international projects. Especially ERASMUS and exchange programmes are very important for me. When I started to work as a dean, the first thing I wanted to do was to inform our students about this issue. The international office of our university came to our students and informed them. Our office continues to work very strongly. Last year, a student from our English department travelled to a country in Europe for a semester. I asked him about his experiences after he arrived. He said that he had gained very good experiences and thanked me especially. This is an issue that I attach great importance to because our students need to see other cultures and education in order to open their horizons and strengthen their vision.
Our professors participate in various international and national symposiums and congresses. I am very happy about this, because I have a young and well-equipped family here. I am also proud of them. In addition, I would like to organise international events at my faculty. In the future, for example, if our 1071 project with Azerbaijan is accepted, we plan to hold such organisations in our faculty and university.
Those who graduate from all of our teaching programmes can work in secondary education public and private institutions and educational institutions after passing the KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Exam) exam. By the way, I would like to emphasise that when we contacted our previous graduates, they told us that they were very successful in their fields during practice. We are successful in this field. At the same time, for example, our students in the department of psychological counselling and guidance can work in guidance and research centres. They can work in private counselling centres. In addition, our students graduating from the department of English education can work as translators, interpreters and have the opportunity to work in units related to various foreign languages.
In general, our students have not communicated to their teachers that they have difficulties in any course so far, because we have a very strong staff, because there are lecturers who are always with the student at any time, who answer all kinds of questions and establish healthy relationships, so our students are lucky in this regard. They do not have difficulty in their lessons. I would also like to inform them that we are ready to give them all kinds of support if they have difficulties in some courses.
The physical equipment of our faculty is very solid. There are smart boards in all our classrooms, so the technological infrastructure is very solid. At the same time, we have a large and very efficient library that our students can use. It is available to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the meantime, of course, our students have the opportunity to participate in social and cultural activities. There are several historical places in Yozgat. At the same time, they will never have problems with accommodation or dormitory when they arrive. Also, our university has a very good dining hall for our students. When our students come, they will be satisfied with this city, our university and our faculty. Moreover, the most important value of the faculty of education is human love. In the warmth of a family, our faculty will give them all kinds of love, respect and value. Finally, the Faculty of Education is a big family. All our students are members. We feel love, solidarity and cooperation towards them. They are very important to us. We are always with them. First of all, we are always in touch with our graduate students. They tell us that they always feel this warmth, that they are successful in their field and that they always remember our faculty.
We are very pleased with that. We are very satisfied with the services we provide them and the feelings they inspire in us.
I would like to mention this, especially to the candidates who want to study in Yozgat: Yozgat is a very safe city.
Its people are warm and helpful. This is very important for people. In addition, Ankara- Yozgat- Sivas high speed train services will start soon. This is actually a great opportunity, our students studying here will be able to easily reach the surrounding provinces and metropolises. They will have the chance to participate in social, cultural and scientific activities. Of course, at the same time, our students will be very happy with the situation here in terms of both accommodation and nutrition. I wish success to all of our students who will enter the university exam. We are waiting for them to Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Education.
