Faculty of Sport Sciences

I am, Prof. Dr. Mehmet GÜÇLÜ. I have graduated from Gazi Education Institute. On 18 May 2021, I was appointed as the dean of Bozok University Faculty of Sports Sciences by YÖK (Higher Education Council) and I have been working at Bozok University Faculty of Sports Sciences since then.
In February 2010, we opened as the School of Physical Education and Sports with the decision of the Council of Ministers published in the Official Gazette No. 27505. Later, in 2020, with the decree of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, we transformed into the Faculty of Sports Sciences and continue our education and training. We started to take our first students in 2016, with 61 students in the physical education and teaching department. Then we took the students of the coaching department in 2017-2018, and the following year we started to take sports management students. By completing our education and training, we continue our education and training in 5 departments, including 3 departments and 3 normal and 2 night education. In our faculty, we are currently carrying out undergraduate education with 1028 students. We continue our postgraduate education with 104 master’s and 5 doctoral students. We are currently continuing our education in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. Of course, there is very little time left for the construction of our building. Our sports sciences faculty is 90% finished. Next year, we will move to our own faculty building.
In our own faculty building, we will strongly keep our education and training with our 5 laboratories, 1 large gymnastics hall, 1 large handball, volleyball, basketball hall, changing rooms and other physical areas. Since we do not have laboratories at the moment, we use the laboratories of the Faculty of Medicine.
At the moment, we are not legally allowed to do internships. Because, it is necessary to register with the Social Security Institution (SSI) and pay a fee to the students. Therefore, we carry out our courses as practical courses. Especially the students of the sports management department do their practice in the Provincial Directorate of Youth Sports, various sports clubs and private fitness centres. In general, the coaching department also carries out their practices in various clubs, sports fields and youth centres of the Provincial Directorate of Youth Sports.
Moreover, as projects, we generally work on ERASMUS Plus and ERASMUS projects. Also, we are trying to adapt the quality of our education and training to the world standards by carrying out projects such as 1001 and 2209A of TUBITAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey).
The students of Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Sport Sciences will receive education and training in accordance with world standards. Within this structure, we make every effort to ensure that they adapt themselves to life in the best way we can, we try to ensure that they are trained in the best way, we strive to keep the quality of education high in accordance with world standards.
The working areas of our students are especially in the Provincial Directorates of Youth Sports. Our graduates in the field of sports management work as civil servants and our coaching department students work as expert coaches. Apart from this, they can work as entrepreneurs in various clubs and various sports fitness centres. If they wish, they fulfil their duties by working in various institutions and organisations and municipalities. One of our biggest tasks is to train physical education and spo teachers for the Ministry of National Education, to familiarise all our people with lifelong sports and to try to make them competent in this field. Our goal is indeed to realise lifelong sports.
However, our students have difficulties especially in the application areas. This is due to the fact that our physical areas are currently limited. Especially when our laboratory needs are completed, we will ensure that our students are fully trained as sportsmen in accordance with world standards. Therefore, when our laboratories and physical facilities are completed next year, we will have the opportunity to provide an excellent education and training.
First of all, I hope that our students will know Yozgat and see that there is a very good environment for them to build themselves and their future in this beautiful and perfect city of Central Anatolia. We do not have a dormitory problem and since there are no areas where our students will waste time, they will endeavour to train themselves perfectly by giving themselves completely to the course. I wish them to see and choose the land of Bozok. I believe that our students who will decide to choose our university will find the natural beauties of Yozgat, its historical depths, as well as the warmth that will provide the environment of being in their own family environment. In addition, I recommend our university because of the sufficient amount of dormitory and accommodation facilities in Yozgat. As Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Sports Sciences, I believe that they will find themselves in an environment like at home because our university provides our students with all kinds of accommodation opportunities and the opportunity to provide them with economic support at the same time, our opportunities such as eating, drinking, accommodation are extremely wide and they will meet with a warm human profile.
