Faculty of Health Sciences
Hello, I am Prof. Dr. Ali İrfan GÜZEL. I was born in 1967 in Göksun, Kahramanmaraş. I graduated from the Department of Biology Education of Middle East Technical University in 1992. I started my academic career in 1997 at the Department of Medical Biology at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine. I worked in Rize. I have been working as a faculty member in the Department of Medical Biology, Basic Medical Sciences at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University Faculty of Medicine for approximately 5 months. I have also been appointed as the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences three months ago. The Faculty of Health Sciences was opened as a School of Health in 2007 and was converted into a faculty in 2019. Currently, we have 26 faculty members, 4 lecturers, and 7 research assistants as academic staff in our faculty. We also have 1 faculty secretary, 2 chiefs, computer operators, and clerks as administrative staff in addition to 4 service personnel. We have 4 active departments that admit students in our faculty. These are nursing, child development, health management, and social work. We have a total of 1414 students studying in these 4 departments. We have 5 departments that are not yet active, that is, they have not yet admitted students. These are nutrition and dietetics, occupational therapy, midwifery, speech and language therapy, and audiology. We will make the nutrition and dietetics department active by admitting students in the near future, maybe within a year. In our active departments, in addition to the courses on Atatürk's principles and history of the revolution, Turkish language and literature, basic information technologies, and English that are taught as must courses at our university, each department has its own specific courses. These include courses such as children's literature, child and law, and mother and child nutrition in the child development department. The nursing department includes courses such as physiology, anatomy, and biochemistry, which provide basic medical education. There is also a program that includes specific courses for nursing, such as children's health nursing, obstetric and gynecological nursing, etc.
In the health management department, courses specific to the field such as macro and microeconomics, general business, and general accounting are included. In the social work department, we have basic courses such as introduction to psychology and introduction to sociology, as well as courses such as anthropology. In addition to the theoretical courses of all our departments, there are also some internships and applications that our students have the opportunity to undertake. They reinforce their theoretical knowledge by practicing in their specific fields in hospitals, healthcare facilities, social service centers, and the Ministry of National Education. All active departments have common or private practice laboratories, anatomy laboratories, computer laboratories, and skill laboratories. Students who are studying in the faculties can find various application courses where they can apply their theoretical knowledge, especially as they approach their final years. In order to have the opportunity to learn in the field by practicing, they complete their practical training in these places or participate in international internship programs and can do their internships in desired institutions. The departments of health management, child development, and nursing departments can receive education under the ERASMUS program within the framework of bilateral relations with approximately 133 universities. Among various European countries, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Italy are among them. Various organizations that bring together special-needs children and university students such as "Life on Campus", "Cheerful Days", "Face to Face", and "Will you play with me?" are organized by the child development department of our Faculty of Health Sciences in the field, on stage, and in swimming pools. Our nursing department holds events during the nursing week every year and also organizes informative meetings or conferences on health-related topics with various institutions and organizations that we have access to. Students who graduate from the nursing, child development, health management, and social work departments of our Faculty of Health Sciences can continue their education by doing internships in institutions where they work, in various public institutions, private education institutions, and universities, if they wish to pursue graduate studies. Our students can also continue their graduate studies in the departments in which they graduated from if they wish. Our recommendation for students who will choose the departments of our Faculty of Health Sciences is to choose the field they are interested in. In other words, they should choose the departments they think they will enjoy studying in. Also, they should always be open to improvement and have the ability to empathize because all of our departments are related to human relations and provide services to people. In this sense, students who see this ability in themselves can easily choose our departments. We wish success to students who will take the university entrance exam, and we have a young and dynamic team in the nursing, child development, health management, and social work departments of Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University Faculty of Health Sciences. We are waiting for everyone.
