Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences
Greetings, my name is Sinem ÖZTÜRK ERDEM and I am a faculty member in the Department of Horticulture at the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences. Our courses are divided into various groups, including compulsory social elective, faculty elective, and department elective, and are compatible with all departments within the faculty. After completing basic engineering courses in the first year, students in our faculty take courses within the departments they have chosen from the second year. In addition to basic courses, we offer practical courses, laboratory courses, and graduation thesis opportunities.
Our faculty, established in 2021, includes agricultural engineering and biosystems engineering departments. The biosystems engineering program offers field training from the first year, while the agricultural engineering program offers basic education courses in the first year, followed by the choice of horticultural crops, plant protection, and field crops departments in the second year.
We have six research laboratories, one student laboratory, one seed room, and one rapid improvement room for our students and academicians to practice and engage in research. Additionally, within the Agricultural Application and Research Center, we have greenhouses, trial areas, and laboratories where all departments conduct their lessons and practices.
Our faculty has an internship directive that obligates students to complete a 30-day internship at the end of the sixth semester. Students have the option to choose public institutions, private sectors, or our faculty for their internships. Our departments' strongest aspect is graduation projects, and our students have the opportunity to become executives by preparing TÜBİTAK 2209 projects with their advisors.
Although ERASMUS is generally considered as a foreign program, we have Mevlana program and Farabi program which is an exchange program in the country. Our students are guided by advisors to gain experience in this context. Our students also participate in all national and international organizations organized by our faculty at our university.
After graduation, our students can work in public institutions and organizations such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, special provincial administrations, and municipalities. There are also employment opportunities in private sectors such as seed companies, seedling and sapling companies, pharmaceutical companies, agricultural markets, agricultural cooperatives, and banks.
Students do not experience any difficulties in their courses in the following years because they take basic engineering courses in the first year. We advise students who are interested in our faculty to develop their foreign language skills and to become proficient in drawing and statistics package programs, which are frequently used in the sector. We encourage them to be engaged in the field, which we believe is where agricultural engineering is best learned.
Located close to Eskişehir, Bursa, Sakarya, and Istanbul, Bilecik has a wide range of transportation opportunities by high-speed train, highway, and airway. Our university provides education, accommodation, social and health opportunities to our students. Additionally, our university ranks high in the Greenmetric World Universities ranking, which evaluates issues such as sustainability, education, environment, and climate change. Our graduate students have taken their place in both public and private institutions and continue to thrive.
I wish success to all candidates who will be taking the university entrance exam. We welcome everyone to Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University.
