Health Services Vocational School

Hello, I am Assistant Professor Dr. Merve KESKİN. I have been serving as a faculty member at the School of Health Services since 2019. I also hold the position of Vice Director of our school. I teach biochemistry, laboratory equipment, laboratory work, and workplace safety courses at our school. The School of Health Services was established by the Higher Education Council in 2012 and began providing education to its first students in 2013. Our vocational school, which graduated its first students in 2015, is located on the Gülümbe Campus of Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. Its location provides our students with ample opportunities for transportation, housing, and socio-cultural activities. The School of Health Services continues its education and training activities with three active departments. The Child Care and Youth Services Department offers the Child Development Program with two different programs, regular and evening education. Our Pharmacy Services Department offers the Pharmacy Services Program with regular education. Our Medical Services and Techniques Department offers the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program with regular and evening education, Opticianry Program with regular education, Operating Room Services Program with regular education, First Aid and Assistance Program with regular education, and Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program with regular education. We continue our education and training activities with approximately 1200 active students. We have three associate professors, three doctorate-holding faculty members, and twenty doctoral and non-doctoral lecturers at our school. Our academic staff, who are experts in their field, support both our students' theoretical and practical education. We have one laboratory for our First Aid and Assistance Program, one laboratory for our Opticianry Program, and one laboratory for our Medical Services and Techniques Program and Pharmacy Services Program, which we actively use at our school. Our Child Development Program students also benefit from a drama workshop. In addition, we have two research laboratories that we have established to help our students successfully conduct their TÜBİTAK 22.09 projects under the guidance of our academic staff.
The 3+1 education model is applied for the operating room services and opticianry programs at our vocational school. This enables our students to receive vocational training during their education. In addition, our other programs aim to develop the practical knowledge of our students by implementing mandatory summer internships. Graduates from our vocational school programs take the public personnel placement exam and, if successful, are placed in public institutions. Moreover, graduates from our programs, such as the first aid program, opticianry program, child development program, pharmacy services program, and operating room services program, also have the opportunity to work in the private sector. Our graduates also have a wide range of job opportunities in the private sector. Thanks to our expert academic staff who work in our vocational school, our students receive both theoretical and practical education. With the protocols made between Bilecik Education and Research Hospital and our university, our students actively perform their vocational training in the hospital environment. Furthermore, our vocational school is located on our university's main campus. This makes it very easy for our students to access transportation, accommodation, socio-cultural activities, and food. With its strong academic staff and the presence of socio-cultural activities, students can choose our Health Services Vocational School with peace of mind. Our university, with its central location, provides financial and moral support to our students during their educational process, including accommodation, transportation, socio-cultural activities, part-time work, and scholarship opportunities. Therefore, our students find themselves in a sincere environment and can continue their education. For these reasons, our students can choose our university. Our university provides all kinds of financial and moral support to our students who study in our vocational school. Our expectation from the students who will settle in our vocational school is that they successfully complete their theoretical and practical education and become useful individuals for our country.
