ERASMUS Program
Greetings, I am Dr. Kutlu ERGÜN, the coordinator responsible for ERASMUS at the International Relations Research and Application Center of Balıkesir University. The ERASMUS program, funded by the European Union, encompasses various fields such as youth, sports, and high investment. Through the ERASMUS Program at our university, our students have the opportunity to study abroad for one or two semesters at our partner universities with which we have established bilateral agreements. Additionally, our students can also benefit from internships abroad through the ERASMUS Plus program. Furthermore, we offer internship opportunities at our university's hospital to international students who wish to come here.
Facilitating mobility for both teaching and training is of great importance to us within the ERASMUS framework. As such, our university staff members can participate in teaching and training activities abroad. We have established two essential criteria for our students to engage in study and internship programs under ERASMUS Plus. Firstly, they are required to pass a foreign language exam conducted by our university, obtaining a minimum score of 55 points. We also consider other national and international exams with recognized qualifications. Secondly, we expect our students at the associate and undergraduate levels to have a minimum GPA of 2.20, while graduate students are required to have a minimum GPA of 2.50 out of 4.
Courses successfully completed by our students abroad within the ERASMUS framework are fully recognized, and the credits earned are recorded in their transcripts. Our university has been actively involved in ERASMUS activities since 2004, benefiting over 3000 students through student mobility and internships. Moreover, more than 500 of our staff members have participated in teaching and training activities as part of the program. Grant allocations within the scope of ERASMUS Plus are determined based on criteria established by the Turkish National Agency. The selection of host universities for students' ERASMUS activities abroad is generally determined according to living standards and categorized into first, second, and third groups. Students going to first group countries receive a grant of 600 euros, those going to second group countries receive 450 euros, and an additional grant of 150 euros is provided for internships in each group.
It is crucial to emphasize that the ERASMUS Plus program goes beyond mere internship and learning mobility; it serves as a platform for cultural interaction. When our students go abroad, they gain invaluable experience by immersing themselves in different cultures, learning from diverse perspectives, and broadening their horizons. Therefore, we strongly encourage our students to participate in the ERASMUS Plus program and seize the opportunity to study abroad. We extend our best wishes to the students who will be taking the university entrance exam and would be delighted to welcome them to our university.
