Psychology, Art and Thought Community

Hello, my name is Gizem Yılmaz and I am a 4th grade student in the Department of Psychology at Ufuk University. I came here today to talk to you about the Psychology, Art and Thought Community. Our Community was established in the second semester of the 2018-2019 academic year. The aim of our community is to produce individuals who graduate both academically developed and socially well-equipped. There are 202 members in our society. 50% of them are actively involved in all activities. In fact, our community generally has participation from all departments. We have a lot of members from the Department of Psychology, the Faculty of Law and the Preparatory Program in particular. The most comprehensive event we have been involved in this year is the ‘introduction breakfast’, for now—because we are a newly formed group. The turnout for this event was really high. We think that we had quality time with our friends. There will also be a symposium of about two sessions on the topic of child abuse. We expect the participation to be very high. Our community is open to all departments. We are also open to communities in different universities, not only the departments at this school. We currently have events that we plan to hold with various societies at several different schools. As for our membership conditions, we are seeking active members. As long as there are active members, we think that we can organise any activity. Our community has helped me develop my organisational skills. It also developed my creative problem-solving skills. I think it has developed my leadership traits, my public speaking skills and my self-confidence. It ensured that I met a lot of people and got in touch with them. Therefore, I am happy to have founded this society and I would like to thank my friends at my side. We welcome whoever will join us this year with open arms. We wish you all success. We want to be an active community and we aim to benefit both ourselves and others together with you.
