Combating Addiction Club
I'm Nursena Armağan. I am a fourth year student at the Department of Psychology, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. At the same time, I am the Chairman of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Anti-Addiction Club. We are a club established on the basis of common development and sincerity in order to write national and international projects and take part in existing projects, to work in social and academic fields in order to combat all kinds of addiction, to carry out joint studies in cooperation with related institutions and organizations. Since the majority of our members are located in the Esenboğa Campus, we generally hold our meetings in classes. In addition, we also carry out our studies in conference halls when we have suitable studies in our Esenboğa and Etlik campuses. Our number of members is around forty because we are actually a relatively new club. However, we can say that people who want to improve themselves in this field, who want to work in this field and who are interested in addiction want to become members. In terms of interest in the field, we can say that the members of the Psychology and Social Service Departments are predominantly. We carry out many activities and events throughout the year. We can collect them in 3 bases. First of all, project activities ... We are a club that is aware that all kinds of business and progress in the world are proceeding with project logic. In this sense, we try to support our club members with project trainings. We give project trainings and write projects. Then we make project applications. So far, we have completed 5 different project applications, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Erasmus. We continue to write more new projects. In addition, we aim to bring together competent names in the field of academic activities with university students. We are organizing various conferences in order to raise awareness about addiction and to introduce the studies carried out in this field to university students. In terms of social activity, we also have the Anti-Addiction (BAM) hour practice. In fact, we aim to increase sincerity and unity within the club through the BAM hours we make with our club members. During the BAM hours, each member should make a presentation under the name of free presentation; in this way, we aim them to learn and improve public speaking. In addition, we continue to organize various activities such as cinema, theater and nature camps in order to increase our motivation. The biggest event we have fulfilled throughout the year; in cooperation with 9 clubs in our university and our university, “Life does not accept gaps Association for the Fight Against Addiction and Education (HAKMED) is –what we call- “AYBU (Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University) in the struggle!;; Turkey's first student-based Fight Against Addiction symposium. In this context, from the World Health Organization to the Directorate General of Security Intelligence Department; we have organized panels and conferences with important speakers at ministerial and parliamentary levels, which have done many activities in this field from academia to civil society. Apart from these conferences and panels, we also diversified our symposium in order to draw attention, with various activities such as exhibitions, flash mob events, narcotics dog shows, design and slogan competitions. In addition to signing a first along with this symposium; we have shown the importance of cooperation. Actually, we hope to make more striking symposiums by traditionalizing this one which we call "Don't be addicted, be free!” Let's adapt our resumes to many places we can apply for; let's learn how to improve the content together and achieve it all together. I think that I have become much more knowledgeable about addiction through various academic activities we carried out. At the same time, I had the opportunity to meet and speak with the heads of various non-governmental organizations and the competent names in their field whom we quested in our university. In addition to this, I think that I have learned to express ourselves better in front of the community and to be able to speak well without being excited during free presentation activities. We welcome all our new friends coming to Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University to our club. Are you there to be completely different with AYBU BAM?
