Erasmus Opportunities

Hello, I am Aycan Gökçek, an instructor. I am working in the General Coordinatorship of the Foreign Relations Department of the University. We, as a unit, provide our students and academic staff with the opportunity to do Exchange programs, both in Europe and around the world. We do all these thanks to the Erasmus and Mevlana exchange programs. First, I want to talk about the Erasmus Learning Exchange program. The Erasmus Learning Exchange is generally the most well-known Exchange program by students. This has both learning and internship Exchange opportunities. In terms of learning, our students go to universities abroad for one or two semesters. Instead of the courses they will take at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, they take courses at the university they attend and the majority of these courses are counted when they return. In terms of internships, students generally prefer to do Exchange in the summer term. In European countries, they can do an internship in any place where they obtain invitation letters from. Both Exchange programs have great benefits for our students. Firstly, they gain experience abroad and gain self-confidence. Additionally, it is a positive experience to add to their resume. Besides these, we have the Mevlana Program. The Mevlana Program provides exchange opportunities not only to European countries, but also many other countries, as well as exchange of information and cultural exchange for both our students and academic staff. In addition, our office is the Eurodesk contact point. This gives the following advantage: To both, our university students as well as people all around Turkey, we provide consulting services on European opportunities and youth-related projects. We are also a member of the ESN (Erasmus Student Network). This has some advantages. Our students work within the ESN. These students are usually those that have gained experience from Exchange programs. They provide information to students interested in Erasmus or other exchange programs. They help them with what to do and what to be careful about, such as adapting to Ankara or the helping our students adapt abroad. This is actually a “body system”. Students who have paired up can ask each other for help in all kinds of issues. In this way, both students coming from abroad and our own students do not have any problems. We await students who will come to Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. I wish them all success. We are always ready to assist them. Thank you.
