Sarıkaya School of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
Hello, I am Assoc. Prof.Dr.Şemsinnur GÖÇER. I joined the YozgatBozok University family in 2018. In 2018, I started my duty as an academician at School of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in Sarıkaya. During the academic process, I also took administrative duties. For 3 years, I also worked as vice principal and department head. I am currently the director of the school.
Sarıkaya School of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation was established in 2016, and started accepting students for the first time in the 2020-2021 academic year. We have a total of 191 students, 145 of them are female and 46 of them are male. 9 of our 191 students are foreign students. In our school, we continue the education and training processes with 1 associate professor, 2 assistant professors and 3 lecturers.
In Sarıkaya School of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, we have courses such as neurological rehabilitation, paediatric rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, sports health, women's health, which both improve health and protect health and at the same time aim to rehabilitate, especially our applied courses from basic medical courses such as anatomy and physiology..
Sarıkaya School of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation has a total of 4 classrooms, one with a capacity of 52 students and 3 classrooms with a capacity of 82 students. We have an anatomy laboratory where the applications of anatomy courses are carried out, a manual therapy laboratory where manual therapy techniques are taught, and 3 training laboratories used in the planning and implementation of exercises, that form the basis of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. In addition, we have a computer laboratory where our students can carry out their academic studies as well as their courses.
In addition, with our library and study hall, which we will soon open to the use of our students, we aim to provide our students with the opportunity to develop joint projects, carry out academic studies and use their time more efficiently with extra-curricular resources.
Our students at Sarıkaya School of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation have a summer internship in the summer months when they reach the end of the 2nd and 3rd year. When they reach the 4th year, they continue their education and training processes in the way of clinical applied trainings throughout the year. In order to manage the processes related to the exchange programmes for our students of Sarıkaya School of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, we manage these processes through ERASMUS, Farabi and MevlanaCoordinatorships and commissions.
Also, our students can participate in ERASMUS exchange programmes at universities in Europe with which YozgatBozok University has an agreement with.
Our professors at Sarıkaya School of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation participate in congresses, symposiums, project markets, etc. related to their fields of expertise. Also, TUBITAK 2209A (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) student projects are guided to increase the academic knowledge and experience of our students by guiding and counselling our students.
Currently, there are 14 TUBITAK 2209A (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) student projects accepted in our school and continue to be carried out. Apart from this, there are activities such as panels, seminars, interviews, etc. organised by the student communities in our school in both scientific and social fields.
At the end of 4 years, students in our high school start their professional life by taking the title of physiotherapist. Our students can work as physiotherapists in hospitals, nursing homes, sports clubs, centres affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, all institutions in the public and private sector. In addition, our students can continue their postgraduate education and become experts in science, doctors of science and academicians.
While the students of our school have difficulties in the first year, especially in basic medical sciences such as anatomy and physiology, unfortunately, in the second and third years, they have more difficulties in courses such as pulmonary rehabilitation, paediatric rehabilitation, manual therapy, which are more profession-specific. However, thanks to our expert academic staff, we make laboratory environments related to the courses and also organise technical trips to the relevant units so that students can overcome these processes more easily.
Physiotherapy and rehabilitation programme is a programme in which applied education is intensively carried out. For this reason, it will be easier for our prospective students to be interested in the fields of science such as biology and physics, which will make it easier for them to study this department. Also, since physiotherapists work with both adults, children and elderly individuals in areas such as neurology, orthopedics, women's health, our students who will choose physiotherapy should be patient, caring, innovative, responsible and knowledgeable. YozgatBozok University is a dynamic and developing university which shows an upward trend in Turkey. In our university and our department, there is a student-oriented management approach.
With our young, dynamic and qualified staff, we maintain an innovative educational approach with our slogan "With determination and success!". In addition, since Sarıkaya district, where our college is located, is located in a thermal region, which was included in the UNESCO World Tentative Heritage List in 2018 and used as a natural bath in the Seljuk and Ottoman period from the Roman period. In this context, we offer a unique opportunity for spa and water therapy, which is an increasingly popular field of physiotherapy.
For the candidates who will take the university exam, we wish them success.
We welcome all our students to YozgatBozok University and Sarıkaya School of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.
