International Student

Hello there. I am Murat MAMMADOV. I am a senior student in the history department of Istanbul Medeniyet University. I come from Azerbaijan. I have been in Istanbul since 2018. I am a student studying under Turkey scholarships. Before choosing the university, we choose various universities. We register for departments. And our choices are made with an interview. As a result of the interview, we are assigned to any university. As an international student, of course, we and our family have some concerns. The biggest of these concerns is the recognition of our diploma. Before coming to the university, we researched for a short time and saw that Istanbul Medeniyet University is a university recognised on international platforms and that is why we chose Istanbul Medeniyet University. Since I am a university student studying within the scope of Turkey Scholarships, they buy our arrival ticket. We come to Turkey by plane. We arrive at the airport in Istanbul. They welcome us at the airport. After welcoming us, we are placed in our dormitory. After we are placed in the dormitory, a student from Istanbul Medeniyet University, for example, brings you to the university one day later. They register you at the student affairs office. I was 17 years old when I started university. Since we are students here and I am 17 years old, we get a temporary residence permit. Since I was 17 years old, I faced a lot of problems. The student affairs of our university helped me a lot. I am very pleased with the academic studies at our university. Especially the academics of the history department are very professional and well-equipped people. Therefore, our biggest feature is that we are impartial. The more impartial a historian is, the more effective his/her narratives will be. I think I have improved in this respect at the university.
Since I spent 2 years in the pandemic process while I was studying at the university, I could not participate in many activities. However, I participated in an interview published on YouTube by the civilisations platform at our university. In Turkey, apart from Istanbul, I have been to Çanakkale, Izmir, Eskişehir, Kocaeli, Apart from that, when I return to my country from here, I travel by bus, so we travel around all the cities of the Black Sea region of Turkey. Therefore, I had the chance to see many cities, but the one that impressed me the most was Çanakkale. We went to Çanakkale during the trip. We had the chance to visit the ancient city of Troy. When it comes to comparing with Istanbul, Istanbul is a really big city, so sometimes you get bored of Istanbul. You want to throw yourself to another city, but after a while, Istanbul is such a city that you miss it again and want to come back. As I mentioned before, I am a student of Turkey scholarships. The biggest purpose of being accepted to this platform is to return to our own country after graduating from university and continue our activities here. The biggest meaning of our activities here is to maintain one-to-one relations with Turkey on a better ground. After graduation, I plan to return to my country and perform my patriotic service. My biggest advice to the candidates who will come to Istanbul and Istanbul Medeniyet University is to research Istanbul and Istanbul Medeniyet University before coming.
