Hello, I'm İsmail RAMAZANOĞLU, the Acting Director of the Library and Documentation Department at Istanbul Medeniyet University. Our library spans 28,000 square meters of closed area, making it the largest library in our country. When operating at full capacity, our library will be able to accommodate 1 million books and serve 3,000 users simultaneously. The library features an accessible study center, a digitalization office, an electronic database center, a preservation room, and conference halls. Additionally, our library is designed to allow users to study and conduct research throughout the day without leaving the premises. To serve this purpose, we provide individual and group study desks, study rooms, a cafeteria, a dining hall, and a mosque. Throughout the day, students are offered complimentary tea and cake by the university. Group study rooms are available in our library. Students can use these rooms for up to 2 hours by presenting their identification to the library staff. Students have uninterrupted internet access throughout all areas of the library. They only need their email addresses and passwords for this purpose. Our library incorporates smart library systems brought by modern librarianship practices. Students and users can borrow and return books without needing assistance from librarians. Furthermore, using the smart library systems, students can locate their books on which shelf, floor, or section without needing assistance from librarians and carry out borrowing and returning transactions. As a first in Turkey, our library has collaborated with public education centers to offer MEB (Ministry of National Education) approved and certified courses to our students.
