Molecular Medicine
Hello, I am Assoc. Prof. Burcu YÜCEL. I am a faculty member in the Department of Molecular Medicine at Istanbul Medeniyet University. I also work as a faculty member in the Department of Medical Biology at the Faculty of Medicine. Molecular medicine is a scientific discipline that investigates the molecular mechanisms occurring in cells, which are the smallest units of living organisms. The aim of our master's program in molecular medicine is to contribute to the facilitation of disease diagnosis and treatment by bringing together medical and biological sciences and developing innovative methods. Our program is an interdisciplinary program created with the participation of faculty members from the fields of medical biology, medical biochemistry, and medical genetics. All graduates with a background in biology can apply to our program, including those in the fields of biology, biochemistry, medical biology, medical biological sciences, dentistry, medicine, bioengineering, molecular biology, and genetics. The application requirements for our program include the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) and a foreign language proficiency exam. The minimum accepted ALES score is 70, and the foreign language score is 60. The master's program in molecular medicine is an interdisciplinary program consisting of faculty members from the fields of medical biology, medical biochemistry, and medical genetics. The research areas of the participating faculty members include genetics, biochemistry, epigenetics, molecular biology, and neuroscience, which are fundamental areas within molecular medicine. Our students participating in the program have the freedom to work with the advisor of their choice. The students assigned to advisors have the opportunity to work as researchers in projects conducted by their advisor. Additionally, we encourage our students to benefit from both domestic and international internship programs and scholarship programs. To contribute to the academic development of our students, we organize regular seminar and article hours. Furthermore, we encourage our students to participate in national and international conferences with presentations. We also encourage our students to aim for their master's theses to be published as high-quality international publications.Students participating in the Molecular Medicine program receive their theoretical courses in the Medical Faculty building and the Science and Advanced Technology Research Center (BİLTAM) building of our university. Our research and practical training sessions take place in the laboratories located in the BİLTAM building. As social areas, our university's Library building in the North Campus, the Library building in the South Campus, and other sports facilities are available to our students. Students in the Molecular Medicine master's program can participate as visiting or exchange students in European countries within the scope of the ERASMUS Project, in which our university is involved. Additionally, we make efforts to send our students as exchange students to laboratories where we collaborate with project partners. The majority of our faculty members in the program have projects supported by institutions such as the Turkish Institutes of Health Sciences (TÜSEB) and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). These projects provide opportunities for our students to work as scholarship holders. Molecular Medicine programs are relatively new and emerging in our country. Graduates from Molecular Medicine departments can work in research and application centers in hospitals and laboratories, as well as pursue doctoral programs in the field of molecular medicine. In terms of research and application opportunities, Istanbul Medeniyet University's BİLTAM (Science and Advanced Technology Application and Research Center) campus provides great advantages for our students. The BİLTAM building houses research laboratories, central laboratories, and animal research laboratories. With its state-of-the-art infrastructure, particularly for utilizing cutting-edge technologies, the BİLTAM building provides a significant advantage for students in the Molecular Medicine graduate program. We expect foreign student applicants to have proficiency in Turkish language as part of the language quota. Additionally, just as we expect from our Turkish students, it is also preferable for foreign students to have English language proficiency. We encourage our graduates from the Molecular Medicine graduate program to continue their careers in both the private sector and academia by providing references. For students interested in pursuing a doctoral program, we contribute to the development of their academic resumes through publications and participation in national or international conferences. Istanbul Medeniyet University Graduate School of Education Molecular Medicine Master's Program is an ideal program for all students due to the campus facilities, research infrastructure, and location of our university. Dear students who aspire to work in the field of Molecular Medicine, the Molecular Medicine Master's Program awaits you with research opportunities and projects.
