Social Responsibility Community

I am Şevval Nur Adıgüzel. I am a 4th grade student at the Faculty of Medicine. I am currently on the Board of Directors of the Social Responsibility Union. In May 2018, we established the Social Responsibility Union with my friend Zeynep. If I am to briefly mention the mission of our foundation, it is to spend good time meeting the social needs of our school by communicating well with our members acting in accordance with the basic goodness we all have. Additionally, we aim to provide equality of opportunity for people and animals and to regain individuals to the society in the social field. We use lecture theaters and English classrooms on campus. Apart from that, we do more activities outside of school. We currently have approximately 172 active members. Candidates who want to participate are usually those who want to improve themselves and take responsibility in social events. In a short time like 2 years, we provided stationery and clothing support to 4 different village schools. Apart from that, we meet the food and shelter needs of our animal friends. We spend valuable time with our elderly people living in the nursing home. Additionally, we visit our fellow friends who receive special education, and we organise various activities in which an enjoyable time is had by all. We hold educational seminars and organise small groups of events on movies and books, where we can improve ourselves both in our academic and business life. Speaking of activity, two events stand out. One of them was that we held a cookie sale event at our school on Valentine's Day, February 14th. In this event, some of our friends brought cookies and sold them at school. With the money raised from its sale, we supported a village school by sending them boots and coats. We do not have specific requirements to join the union. Being a volunteer is the only condition. This is more than enough for us. Many of our friends who had not taken responsibility before, joined us also, and this allowed us to see that we could do many more activities together. Our union is open to everyone. Everyone in our school can of course join us as we are a school union. People outside of school can do so on social media if they want to participate. Apart from this, there is no participation requirement set by our school. Volunteering is enough for us. As a medical school student, I have taken it as a mission upon myself to help people, and I am very proud of it. I have taken a step in this regard with the Social Responsibility Union, and I think I can improve myself further.
