Graduate Education Institute

I am Professor Doctor Hale Tufan. I am the director of the Postgraduate Education Institute of Yuksek Ihtisas University. Our institute was established as the Institute of Health Sciences in 2016, in a befitting way to its name by Yuksek Ihtisas University, and has continued its activities as the Postgraduate Education Institute since the spring term of 2020. Our institute is located in the Balgat campus of our university and currently offers 5 programmes. In addition to associate degree and undergraduate education, we also offer postgraduate education given by our university. We aim to enable our students to specialize in certain areas by taking postgraduate education in addition to their associate and undergraduate education. Our institute has offered Master’s programmes with a thesis in the programmes of Anatomy, Medical Microbiology, Medical Genetics, Histology and Embryology and Internal Medicine Nursing since 2017. Our institute is open both to international and home students. Since our language of instruction is in Turkish, we would like our international students to provide us with a certificate showing us that their Turkish language skills are sufficient when they are applying to our institute. With the launch of international exchange programmes at our university, our international student numbers will continue to be on the rise. The professors, who have worked in our institute programmes, are professors who are well-known both in Turkey and abroad, and who have made a place for themselves in the scientific community with their scientific research and academic studies. These professors are quite eager to partake their knowledge to our graduate students. The public institutions and organizations, private hospitals and laboratories that our university cooperates with are also suitable for the joint studies of our institute. Our institute students can benefit from these laboratories, hospitals and other public institutions and organizations within the scope of academic research studies under the guidance of their lecturers.In accordance with the general legislation, we grant admission to students by calculating their GPA scores from their Bachelor’s, their Graduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) scores and the score they receive from the exam they take in the institute. This final score is ranked and the students are chosen according to the result of these calculations. But of course, we expect the applicants to have a scientific point of view, to be prone to research, to be willing and suitable for group work. Since our institute offers postgraduate programmes with a thesis, our students mostly focus on fundamental sciences studies. Upon graduation, students want to continue with their academic career or to continue working in the private sector with the knowledge and expertise they have acquired here. We have 5 existing programmes, but in addition to these, we are working towards opening new programmes such as Physiology, Pharmacology, Medical Biochemistry, and Surgical Disease Nursing. My advice to candidates who want to be one of our students will be to take their education seriously and to follow our quota for Master’s which will be announced at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters.
