I am, Professor Doctor Emel Koptagel of Yuksek Ihtisas University, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The Faculty of Health Sciences began teaching activities in the 2016-2017 academic year with the Departments of Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, which are the basic departments of Health Sciences Faculty. In addition to undergraduate programmes, a postgraduate education in the field of Internal Medicine Nursing is also offered within the structure of Graduate Education Institute. Yuksek Ihtisas University Faculty of Health Sciences is an easily accessible faculty in Ankara Balgat campus with rich library facilities. Our university has laboratories such as cooking techniques laboratories, food chemistry analysis laboratory, anthropometer laboratory, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and heat-light hydrotherapy laboratories, the nursing skills laboratory and simulation laboratory which are all equipped with the latest technology. In addition we also have trainings conducted in the nursing skills laboratory and simulation laboratory. Our university also offers educational activities in which students are instructed to discuss the cases through scenarios and video shootings created with virtual patients and clients. Along with this practical training, our students also receive intensive courses within the theoretical framework. In these theoretical courses, quite apart from field courses in Health Sciences, they prepare themselves for life through special courses such as yoga, law, psychology, communication skills and gender equality. With the theoretical courses they take in the field of health, special lessons that prepare them for life, internships and clinical practices, we graduate our students as trained and competent health professionals in their fields. There are also student clubs in our faculty. With social responsibility, travel, theater, dance and department student clubs, our students can get in touch with each other between departments and improve their communication skills. Also, they participate in congresses and sports competitions held between universities and fortunately they return with medals. In our faculties, our students are given scholarships such as excellence scholarship, first choice scholarship, martyr and veteran relatives scholarship and social aid scholarships. We train our students as competent health professionals in the field, together with the theoretical, practical and clinical applications that the Faculty of Health Sciences of Yuksek Ihtisas University offers our students with its expert academic staff. Our students find employment in public and private hospitals, some health centres, sports clubs with their own health centres. If they wish, they can go on to further study in academia.
