Carrier Planning, Application and Research Center

Hi. My name is Hakan Akaydın. I am a lecturer in the Medical Services and Techniques Programme of Yuksek Ihtisas University, Vocational School of Health Services. I am also the secretary of the Career Planning, Application and Research Centre. As Yuksek Ihtisas University, our aim is to provide a high-quality education to our students and graduates. While we are providing our students with this education of high calibre, we are doing our utmost to give them seminars, programmes, trainings and courses which would allow them to develop skills for job hunting, interview techniques and preparing a cover letter from their very first year. Our aim is to have well skilled graduates. We are also trying to provide them with all kinds of opportunities where they can easily contact us and where we can give them guidance regarding their plans. The qualifications sought in the workforce, especially in regards of technology, have changed due to digitalization as a direct result of the recent Covid-19 epidemic. Education alone may not be enough anymore. With this point in mind, we are doing our best to give our students support with what they should do to improve themselves and increase their competencies. We try to achieve this by providing them with trainings which will enhance their vision and allow them to receive support from outside of the university both with our own resources, and at times with the aid of the professionals from the sector. In terms of career planning, as we have more and more graduates with each passing day, we are cooperating with them in order not to abandon them after graduation. Although our graduates are relatively less anxious about finding a job in business life in comparison to other students because we are a health university, we still give support to those who want to follow a different career path and / or who want to add to the education they have received from here. We show them what is in store for them in the sector. As the Career Planning, Research and Application Centre, we also try to support scientific studies on career planning. We have student representatives. We frequently come together as the Career Planning Centre to evaluate the expectations of our students from us and draw road maps for ourselves in accordance with these findings. We try to plan how we can get in touch with students and alumni by holding regular meetings. As I said earlier, our biggest goal is to support our students' career plans from the moment they begin their lessons, and not after they graduate. I would like to state that, as Yuksek Ihtisas University, we await our new students in the coming academic year and that we will continue to support them in terms of career planning. I wish success to all our students in advance.
