Political Science and International Relations

I'm Hatice Nursena Yücel. I am working as a research assistant at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Department of Political Science and International Relations. The Department of Political Science and International Relations of our university is an interdisciplinary department that includes many disciplines, and it has 4 departments. These departments include Political Science, International Relations, Political History and International Law. There are 350 students in our department and we host many international students. The mission of our department is to educate students who will best represent themselves and our country in the national and international arena, have academic and analytical skills. Due to the fact that our department is an interdisciplinary department and includes many departments, we offer our students introductory courses in the fields of Economics, History, Law and Sociology, in addition to Political Science and International Relations courses. At the same time, we offer elective courses and language training opportunities in the 3rd and 4th grades in the fields that our students want to specialize in. Although we do not provide applied courses as the Department of Political Science and International Relations, the need for computers in this digital age is undeniable when we consider the requirements of our age. Our department and university has computer laboratories where they provide the necessary facilities to our students, to respond to the technological needs of our students. Students of our department have the opportunity to do internships voluntarily. Our instructors provide information on the instutitons our students can work in depending on their interests. At the same time, our students have many internship opportunities within the scope of the internship mobilization (career gate) program carried out by the Presidency. In addition, there are opportunities for our students to work part-time at our university. Introducing our students of the Department of Political Science and International Relations to the world arena is one of the important missions of our department. In order to realize this mission, we have agreements with universities in many countries, especially in the USA, Germany, Finland, as a part of the Erasmus program. At the same time, we continue our efforts to make agreements with universities in various Middle Eastern and Asian countries. Our department is one of the leading departments of our faculty, inviting many valuable bureaucrats in our country to our school and providing the opportunity to meet with our students. We see that students who graduate from the Department of Political Science and International Relations can have a wide range of work opportunities both in the public and private sectors. In addition, they have the opportunity to work in various positions, from diplomat to specialist in government institutions and ministries, from manager to consultant in private companies, as well as in non-governmental organizations and international organizations. The biggest advice we can give to our prospective students is not to worry and stress during their initial enrollment here, which is an important step in their lives. Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University offers them a comfortable, safe and welcoming environment. However, it is an undoubted fact that students who will graduate from the department of International Relations should have language proficiency. I advise our fellow students to start their language studies as early as possible, to follow world events frequently through various channels, and to acquire a reading habit. Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University is one of the leading universities of our country and region. We promise our students success in the academic field with our competent academic staff, various and intensified courses. Apart from this, Tokat is one of the most beautiful cities of our country. In addition to its natural sites and historical importance, we hope that our students will be able to lead a comfortable education life in Tokat with its student-friendly university staff.
