Molecular Biology and Genetics

Hi, I'm Berna Özer. I am a 4th year student in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Inonu University Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is a multidisciplinary academic department that examines living things at the molecular level. In addition to the basic courses taken in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, we take courses such as RNA Biology, Cancer Biology, Introduction to Nanobiotechnology, Introduction to Bioinformatology. In addition, we have final projects carried out with the teachers in our department. In the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, we have laboratories as research and student laboratories. We have our courses in there. Our laboratories are categorized as molecular biology laboratory, cell biology laboratory and microbiology laboratory. At the end of the 3rd grade, we can do internship in domestic and international institutions and organizations for 30 working days. We also have the opportunity to do internships using the Erasmus program.We can also use exchange programs like Mevlana and Farabi. After graduating from this department, we can work in public hospitals, private hospitals, private laboratories, genetic diagnosis centers, IVF centers and forensic institutions. In addition, we can work in public institutions. If you want, you can become a bio-entrepreneur and start your own company. As an example, you can carry out vaccine and diagnostic kit development studies. We have students who have been working on vaccines in our department for 2 years. I chose this department because I like experimenting, researching and discovering new things. I chose Inonu University because it is a well-established institution. Also, the language of instruction in our department is 100% English and the academic staff is strong. After graduation, I'm thinking of pursuing a master's degree and then a PhD. If you want to be an international researcher and entrepreneur, the fact that our department provides education in a foreign language will give you great advantages. There are a wide range of communities in our university where our students socialize. One of them is the Molecular Biology and Genetics Society, which belongs to our department. It is actively working. You can join them.
