First and Immediate Aid

My name is Beliz Yekeler Kahraman. I work as a program manager at the University of Health Sciences, Hamidiye Vocational School of Health Services, First and Emergency Aid Program. After graduation, our students work as first and emergency aid technicians in ambulances. These people are the team that will first arrive at the scene of a traffic accident and make the first intervention. In cases of chest pain, train accidents, explosions, they are the first responders at the scene. In our program, we have courses such as Emergency Patient Care so that our students can learn about diseases; Resuscitation to learn the principles emergency response, Trauma to learn how to intervene in traffic accidents and falls from a height. In addition, we support the theoretical knowledge of our students with elective courses. Our program has its own laboratory. In addition, we have our own red-stripped ambulance, that is, an emergency ambulance. In our laboratory, we have adequately equipped technical and medical devices and materials. We have 1 simulation model, 2 resuscitation models, and 3 patient care models in our laboratory. We have the equipment that allows our students to practice, so that they can practice the stuff that they have learned in their theoretical courses. We support our 1st year students with theoretical and applied courses at school. When our students pass the 2nd year, they can do internships at hospitals and 112 stations. Thanks to this, they practice 2 days a week. In addition, our students must obtain a Class B driver's license within 2 years. In summer, there is a 7-day summer internship after school ends in June. Students who successfully complete their summer internship, pass all the courses and have a Class B driver's license are entitled to graduate from our school. Students who graduate from our program can work at 112 stations within the Ministry of Health. They can also work at 112 stations with private ambulance services. Our students have the opportunity to work in private hospitals and intensive care emergency services. The student who graduates from the First and Emergency Aid Program will be able to find a job easily in many departments of the health field. The healthcare community in Turkey is expanding. People who like to help people can easily do this kind of work. Our university is the first university in Turkey to be established focusing on health. At the same time, we have contracts with 60 hospitals. This provides students with ample opportunities to practice. Although we provide students with theoretical knowledge, it is very important to support that knowledge with applications to make them become more experienced. The University of Health Sciences also offers a wide range of opportunities to students. We will support the students who will choose our program with theoretical and applied courses at school. However, the student should also focus on their physical well-being and engage in sports. I wish success to the students who will take the exam, we will be happy to see you among us.
