Occupational Health and Safety

Hello everyone, my name is Esra Sayın. I am a 1st year student at the University of Health Sciences, Occupational Health and Safety Associate Degree Program. The Occupational Health and Safety Program is located in the Mekteb-i Tıbbiye-i Şahane Complex in Kadıköy. After graduating from the program, we become occupational health and safety technicians. Then, by taking the exam, we can become a class-C occupational health and safety specialist. The aim of our department is to train personnel who will minimize the risks involved in labor. We receive training in many areas such as general ethical rules of Occupational Health and Safety, occupational diseases, risk analysis, machine knowledge, basic first aid knowledge. There is a mandatory 20-day summer internship in our program. We choose our internship places in consultation with our school. Within the scope of the European Union Harmonization Laws, it has now become mandatory for all businesses to have an occupational safety specialist, so we can work in many places. We can work in all institutions and organizations depending on the certificate we received after graduation and the risk group of the enterprise. Of course, the high employment rate was an important factor for me when making my choice. In addition, providing people with safe working environments and minimizing the risk in the workplace is a spiritually satisfying job. It was a great advantage for me to study in Istanbul, especially in such a historical campus. In addition, the prestige that the University of Health Sciences diploma will provide after graduation was an important factor for me when choosing. When I graduate, I want to become an A-class occupational safety specialist by specializing in my field. I want to be able to provide working environments that will not put human health and life at risk in high-risk environments. The Occupational Health and Safety profession requires a high level of responsibility, as well as having a wide range of job opportunities. For this reason, I recommend that people who will choose this department make their choice taking this into consideration. Our school offers students opportunities in many fields. I also recommend you to participate in social and cultural activities when you come to our school.
