ERASMUS Program
I am Professor Zeha YAKAR. I have been working as a faculty member at Pamukkale University for about 15 years, in the Department of Science Education
I am a member of the academic staff. In addition, I have also been working as the Pamukkale University International Relations Coordinator for 10 years. Pamukkale University is one of the most prominent institutions involved with the ERASMUS program. You know that the grant distributions are made by the European Central and Turkish National Agency. We are among the most successful institutions that provides the conditions for student and academic staff mobility, thanks to these grants. ERAMUS Plus Program is a student and staff exchange program supported by the European Union and the Turkish National Agency. ERAMUS Plus Program is divided into two, as K131 and K171 Program. In the K131 Program, we can carry out mobility with the institutions that the European Union countries have agreements with. In the K171 Program, we can carry out mobility with the institutions that we have agreements with countries outside the European Union. The ERASMUS Plus Program is a good mobility program that offers proper international benefits, especially for our fellow students. Our undergraduate students must first achieve an academic average of 2.5 in order to be selected. Our graduate and doctorate students must have a GPA of 3. In addition, they are required to take the language exam for International Exchange Programs prepared the School of Foreign Languages. Our undergraduate students must score 60 from this exam, and our graduate and doctoral students must score at least 65 from this exam. We also recognize UDS, YDS, EYDS, TOEFL and other international exams recognized by OSYM. We use these scores. Our students can engage in education and internship mobility within the scope of the ERASMUS Programs. Students can enjoy the program for at least 1 semester and at most 2 semesters. They have the right to benefit from this mobility for 12 months in total at undergraduate level, 12 months in total at graduate level and 12 months in total at doctoral level. Students can do an internship after completing their educational program or just focus on the internship or program within the scope of ERASMUS PLUS. Our students who will go can spend their fall or spring semesters or both of these as a part of the mobility program, in the institutions they have chosen abroad. For the internships, our students need to follow our announcements and apply . We now accept our applications through the Presidential Career Gate. We also inform our students about this. This is a fairly new development. Internships are quite important. Some of our students were quite satisfied with the programs, and they have even enjoyed employment possibilities. Some of these institutions have contacted us to say that they want more students from our university. This makes us proud, we are proud of our students. Of course, we also have incoming students. We are one of the popular institutions involved in the ERASMUS program. Students prefer us for internships within the scope of ERASMUS. We now have a Physical therapy and Rehabilitation Faculty. In the past it was a higher education school. It is one of our most preferred faculties. The Department of Archaeology is the other. Of course, the Faculty of Engineering and Administrative Sciences is also among the most demanded faculties. ERAMUS Plus K171 mobility is another program we have successfully run. I’d like to highlight this. Because, indeed, we are in a very good position among all institutions in Turkey. ERASMUS Plus K171 is a mobility program that covers countries other than the European Union countries. This year, we received grants for 14 different countries. These include the Balkan countries, such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, Ukraine. Unfortunately, there is a war, but we have still received grants for mobility. We received grants to carry out mobility with countries such as Moldova, Tunisia, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh and Nepal. Every year, we make our expenditures in accordance with the items written in the handbooks published by the European Center and translated into Turkish by the Turkish National Agency. The monthly grant amounts to be paid to these students are available in this handbook. We also carry out our work on the basis of the guidelines. Students who come to our institution within the scope of ERASMUS Plus, are first selected by their own institutions and their files are provided to us. Students come to our institution to carry out their learning activities and internship activities. In order to ensure the adaptation of our incoming students, we organize orientation programs and introduce our institution in order to help them settle in. In order to meet the basic needs of our foreign students who come to our institution, we regularly offer them guidance in all matters. In addition, we organize various social events in order for our students to socialize with each other. One of them is our Food Fair event. Our incoming students cook their own dishes, and we do the same. We organize beautiful, small and friendly festivals between us. We celebrate the new year together. We also organize an International Week Event every year in order to strengthen the relations of our institution with the contracted institutions. Administrative staff, academic staff and International Office employees from the institutions we have contracted with can also participate. As part of this event, we organize an Education Fair. Students who want to benefit from the ERASMUS Program have the chance to ask our guests questions at this fair. We also introduce the city we live in and our culture to our guests, just as we introduced our university. Guests, who come with some prejudices, leave our institution very happily and safely during this one-week period. This really makes us happy. We are all very happy about this. We are a very lucky institution. We have a very nice student community that works hard and also volunteers. This student community guides our ERASMUS students who come to our institution. We have a “mentor student” system. I can say that it has been very successful indeed. Pamukkale University is located in a really beautiful place. The climate is beautiful. The winters don’t last long. The location is beautiful. Denizli, the city where our university is located, is neither small nor very big. It is a city that is inexpensive, comfortable, and has a lot of social spots. You can walk around the whole city. You would get a little tired, but you can walk. It is also a city that can offer our students a lot of options in terms of social activities. In this sense, our students both ensure their professional development and have fun. I wish success to all students who will take the university exam.
