Library And Documentation
Hello, I'm Nilhan Eskicioglu. I graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geography, Department of Librarianship. I have been working in Pamukkale University for 16 years. I work at the Fuat Sezgin Library. I have been working as the Documentation Branch Manager for 7 years. Our library started its services on July 3, 1992, the date of establishment of our university, in an area of 131 m² in the rectorate building, with a single staff member, with approximately 4000 books. In 2018, the possibilities of our library were expanded and it gained its current appearance with a seating capacity of approximately 1200 and 25 personnel in an area of 3412 m². Our library serves in three parts as A, B and C blocks. In terms of the collection in our library; currently, we have more than 115,000 printed resources, more than 5000 printed theses, and 194 printed journals. In addition to printed resources, in terms of electronic resources, we have more than 19,000 electronic books, more than 7 million electronic theses and over 80,000 electronic books in our library collection. Our library supports the educational and academic studies of the university. This is the purpose of the library. Our collection is developed in parallel with this. In addition to academic resources, popular resources are also included in our library. While developing our collection, we focus on obtaining resources related to the fields of the newly opened faculties of the university, within the scope of supporting the academic studies of our university. Apart from this, with the system we call the inter-library cooperation system (ILL), we are able to borrow books from other universities for the academic staff, not from our university. In the same way, other universities can ask for loan resources from us. This is a service that supports academic studies. There are 4 group study rooms in the C block study hall in our library. There is an electronic library facility. In addition to electronic printed resources, there are electronic resources on our library website. In addition to the databases provided by ULAKBİM, we can scan the electronic resources purchased or subscribed to by our university one by one, and they have the opportunity to access all of them by scanning them from the same single interface. In other words, our users can browse and access our library resources from both our printed and electronic web pages from a single interface. Users who want to borrow resources from our library must first sign the membership agreement and become a member of the library. Borrowing conditions are as follows: academic staff can be loaned up to 10 books for 60 days, postgraduate students can borrow maximum 10 books for 30 days, administrative staff, associate degree and undergraduate students can borrow a maximum of 5 books for 30 days. Users can make reservations through the system for resources borrowed by someone else. Our library is open 24/7. Only Block A provides service between 08.00-18.00 on weekdays. A block is closed on weekends. B and C block study halls are open 24/7. I wish success to all candidates who will enter the university exam. We welcome you all to Pamukkale University, which has a rich library collection.
