Şefaatli Vocational School
Hello, I am Lecturer Mertcan ARITÜRK. I graduated from IspartaSüleymanDemirel University with a bachelor's and master's degree in Public Administration. I started working as a lecturer at Yozgat Bozok University Şefaatli Vocational School in the property protection and security department, private security and protection programme 3 years ago. I have been working as the director of our vocational school for the last 1 year.
We continue to carry out our work as much as we can to provide services to our students together with our academic and administrative staff, together with all our teammates, in order to fulfil the duty given to us by our rector of Yozgat Bozok University, Mr Profesor Doctor Ahmet KARADAĞ. Yozgat Bozok University Şefaatli Vocational School was established in 2015. In 2018, it started to recruit students by implementing two active programmes and started its education and training services as of 2018. As of now, our Şefaatli Vocational School, which graduates in 4 active programmes and 3 semesters, has reached 165 graduates. The employment opportunities of graduates and the institutions they work in are regularly monitored through the career centre and also through our academic advisors.
Şefaatli Vocational School currently has 4 active programmes and these programmes are; land registry and cadastre programme, laboratory services and veterinary health programmes, call centre services programme, social security programme.
In our district of Şefaatli, where Yozgat Bozok University Şefaatli Vocational School is located, the accommodation facilities of our students are met through the dormitories for girls and boys provided by our municipality for our students and also through the rental houses provided by our people to the students.
Şefaatli Vocational School has a young and dynamic staff. In addition to our 15 academic staff, our 7 administrative staff, while serving our students, exhibit various education and training activities for the needs of our students, while leaving student orientation. In addition, our students are also very happy to have academic staff who understand the student, listen to the student, and enjoy acting together with our students.
All programmes in our vocational school have laboratory facilities and their infrastructure has been completed. Our laboratory services and veterinary health programme has an anatomy laboratory and an application laboratory. There is a measurement laboratory belonging to our land registry and cadastre programme, and a sports field belonging to our private security and protection programme.
There is a practice field. There is a multi-purpose sports facility in our open-air sports facility, where various social and sportive activities are provided for our students. At the same time, we have a farm for our laboratory and veterinary health programme students. They can realise their applications through our animals in the farm.
In our vocational high school, internship course is used as a mandatory course in all active programmes. In addition, vocational training is applied in two of our programmes and 3+1 education model is adopted. Our education model, which we call the 3 + 1 education model, is that after our students receive at least two semesters of theoretical education, we send them to vocational training in enterprises, either in autumn or spring semester, in a period of their choice. The vocational training they do in the enterprises is also monitored by their academic counsellors and lecturers and they spend a whole semester in the enterprise. This again provides us with an advantage in terms of providing the service that our university and higher education institution expect from our universities and vocational colleges, and at the point of transferring the theoretical knowledge of our students to the field and taking their applications with this theoretical knowledge in the field and entering professional life in a more experienced way.
All active programmes in our vocational high school are programmes that provide great convenience to our students in terms of graduation. Namely, we have an elective course pool in the 3rd and 4th semesters, which are allocated in the spring and autumn semesters, together with the compulsory courses in the course curricula. Our students can continue their education life by taking the courses they want from the elective course pool and even by connecting a course they failed in the autumn semester to a course they take from the elective course pool in the spring semester. However, they can see the support of all the staff of Yozgat Bozok University, which works student-oriented while graduating.
The internship requirement in all our programmes in our vocational school, vocational training practices in the enterprise are practices that directly prepare our students for the field, and when we look at the employability of our graduates, we have very high rates.
With very low KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Examination) scores, our students can find the opportunity to work in the institutions of our state and in private companies, especially the students graduated from our other programmes can even start working where they do their internship. We are proud to see and know such examples. It also sets an example for our students.
