Faculty of Medicine
Hello, I am Mert Baysal, Yuksek Ihtisas University 6th term student, I am intern doctor. I have studied at our university for 6 years in classical medical school. The first three years are based more on theoretical knowledge, while the final three are more practical. In our university, we took courses on basic medical sciences for the first three years, and we proceeded to internal medical sciences and clinical branches in the following three years. In our university, we had full access to microbiology, biochemistry and anatomy laboratories during the first three years of education, we were able to use it. Apart from that, after proceeding to the hospital, our trainings continued in various laboratories in the hospital. In the final year of the medical school, we receive an intern programme in year 6, as in every medical school. Unlike the first five years in the internship, you are intertwined with the clinic, shift, seeing patients, assisting the professor in the operating room, you spend more time on such things, it helps you to specialize in the clinical practices. We graduate from the medical school as a general practitioner. After graduating as a general practitioner, those who want to prepare for the Specialization Exam in Medicine (TUS) can specialize in their desired branch, as most of our friends do. The reason why I chose medical school was that I found medicine interesting at first, of course, apart from that, performing a social profession also caught my interest in medical school. The reason why I chose Yuksek Ihtisas University following the university entrance exam is that the university was originally in Ankara, our capital. I find Ankara very good in terms of education and health. Afterwards, the fact that our teachers are expert was a huge factor in my choice of university. Of course, the limited number of students in small sized-classrooms increases the quality of the education. Speaking of the advantages our university offers, I can say that the academic staff is very experienced and our professors are considerably interested in each of us. Apart from that, we can benefit from all the facilities of the hospital we are affiliated with, and I am very glad to own that privilege. After I graduate, I want to further my career abroad. My biggest dream is to specialize in a surgical branch there and return back later. If I had a suggestion for the candidates who will choose the Faculty of Medicine, it would be that they should study in big cities such as Ankara, Istanbul or Izmir. In addition to the education you receive, your social life is also very important, except that you will do the necessary research in time of decision. We would like to see you here soon. I wish success in advance to the candidates who will take the exam.
