Dormitory Facilties

Hello, this is Zeynep Gül. I'm studying in the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Ankara Yıldırım University. I'm from Bursa. I have been staying in the dormitory of the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) for 3 years. In terms of our rooms, we have 3 bed base, 3 work desks, 1 mini fridge, 3 closets, and toilets and bathrooms. That's a big plus for us. We can use the space under our beds as cupboards. In our dormitory, there are study rooms in the corridors outside our room. On the first floor, we have a mosque the same size as the study rooms. Our cafeteria is in a separate building. On the upper floor of the cafeteria building we have a laundry facility and a larger study hall. The laundry is open from 8 am to 3:30 pm on weekdays and on the weekend, we can use it from 8 am to 11 pm. After doing our laundry, if we want to dry it, we have dryers. In the building where our rooms are, 1 drying horse are provided for every 2 rooms. An ironing board is available on each floor. With our own iron, if we want, we can easily iron our clothes. In terms of the cafeteria services, breakfast is served from 6 am to noon; dinner is served from 4 pm to 10 pm. When we don't want to eat at the cafeteria, we can order food from outside and get it from security. Of the facilities that I am pleased with in my dormitory are the work desks and cupboards. In addition, the study rooms on the floors give us the opportunity to work there when we do not want to study in our room. This is a big advantage for us.
In terms of the rules that we should follow in our dormitory, we have entry-exit times between 06:00 in the morning and 11:00 at night. When we need to enter the dorm after 11:00, we can enter as long as we get permission. But after 11:00, we are not allowed to go outside without permission; or we can get permission from the dormitory authorities. In terms of other rules, electrical appliances, kettles, triple sockets are prohibited in our dormitory. We get hot water supplied from the cafeteria. Talking about the security of our dormitory, we do entry-exit with our fingerprints. Entrance and exit from the dormitory are forbidden for everyone except the students and the authorities. In terms of the benefits to my social life of staying in the dorm, I made friends from different departments. I helped myself develop socially. Other than that, within the possibilities of our dorm, there are courses such as Sign Language, Arabic and Ebru. By participating in these courses, I had the opportunity to develop myself in different fields and to make friends in a social sense. I use minibus transportation between the dormitory and the university. In general, the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) makes their dormitories within a 1 vehicle distance to the university, or even closer. My dormitory is also located close to my university. It is a great experience for students who stay in the dormitory for the first time. It is a good opportunity to meet friends from different fields, improve your social skills and prepare yourself for future life. It is very advantageous in this sense to stay in the dorms of the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK).
