Deputy Dean and Lecturer

Hello, I am doctoral lecturer Ebubekir KARAKOCA. As the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and a faculty member of the Department of Geography at Bilecik Seyh Edebali University, my primary research areas are geoarchaeology, geomorphology, and geographic information systems and remote sensing. I completed my undergraduate studies in the Department of Geography at 19 Mayıs University in 2014, followed by a master's and doctoral program in 2017 and 2020. The Faculty of Science and Literature at Bilecik Seyh Edebali University was established in 2008 and was changed to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science by the Presidential decree in 2022, thus splitting into two separate faculties, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science. Currently, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has 56 faculty members, one faculty secretary, and five administrative personnel. Our faculty has five departments, which are Archaeology, Geography, Psychology, History, and Turkish Language and Literature, with around 1,300 active students enrolled in these departments. The faculty has two types of courses: mandatory courses and elective courses. A student who wishes to graduate from the faculty must successfully complete 240 AKTS credits, which consists of mandatory courses and elective courses. The mandatory courses are designed to develop and enhance students' field-specific competencies, while the elective courses aim to help students acquire different competencies in areas of interest. The faculty has four laboratories, one of which is located in the Archaeology Department, and the other three are in the Geography Department, namely, the pedography laboratory, the sedimentology laboratory, and the geographic information systems and data analysis laboratory. In addition, the Archaeology practice area, department libraries, and the Prof. Dr. Oğuz EROL Library in the Geography Department are available for our students. Although the faculty does not provide direct internships, students who want to complete pedagogical formation education can participate in teaching practice. Additionally, students who have successfully completed their senior year in our departments are assigned to do graduation projects and theses.
We actively participate in the ERASMUS program as the staff of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. Within this program, our students mostly prefer European countries and universities. Poland and its universities are quite popular. About 50 students participate in the student exchange program. The faculty members participate in international and national symposiums, conferences, and workshops. They also actively serve on the executive and organizing committees of these events. Graduates from our faculty who successfully complete their education are eligible to work with the proper titles. Institutions generally prefer students with field proficiency. These institutions include public institutions such as State Hydraulic Works, General Directorate of Meteorology, libraries, and the Turkish Historical Society. They can also hold important positions in ministries such as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. In addition, students who have completed their pedagogical formation education can work in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. In addition, students can find employment opportunities in many public institutions and organizations. These include ministries, municipalities, libraries, and various public agencies. Students who want to study at our faculty need to have the basic knowledge of regarding the courses. In order to improve possible shortcomings in this regard, we carry out studies as a faculty. It is one of our greatest desires to successfully complete the education and training of our students. Improving our laboratories and technological facilities are among our most important goals. The departments in our faculty are scientific disciplines that examine, analyze, and interpret the impact of the natural and human environment on each other within certain principles and use technological facilities. Our faculty aims to educate students who can think with a clear mind, conduct analyses, and produce solutions. Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University is a great university established in Bilecik. Our university has many advantages due to its location. One of these is being at the center of the transportation network. Our city and university are located in a very important position in terms of highways, airways, and railways, and our students have many travel options. Moreover, Bilecik is a student-friendly city and its history is quite important. Our university is an important university that many facilities such as technical equipment, social and sports facilities, and library facilities. As the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, we are happy to welcome and host our students here. I wish success to the candidate students who will take the university entrance exam.
