Graduate Education Institute
Hello, I am Murat ALANYALIOĞLU, a lecturer in the food processing department at our university's vocational school. I also hold the position of Director at our university's Graduate Education Institute, which was established on 24 December 2019, with a history as the Institute of Science and Social Sciences. Over the past 3 years, our institute has been providing graduate education and has graduated 1211 students from a total of 70 programs. Our institute offers programs in various disciplines, including natural sciences, social sciences, health sciences, and fine arts, making it a comprehensive institute that covers almost all fields. At our institute, we offer programs at the doctoral and master's levels, including thesis-based programs and joint programs. We currently have approximately 1700 students, including 101 foreign nationals, who are receiving education from our institute. Our university's Rectorate has established collaborative partnerships with universities in Libya, primarily to facilitate postgraduate education for students. Recently, we have also signed agreements with universities in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan, and Macedonia for student exchange programs, with the aim of further enhancing international cooperation.Within our institute, we have a dedicated academic staff comprising of 1 principal, 2 assistant directors, and 3 research assistants, along with 6 administrative personnel. We are committed to promoting international cooperation within our university and recognize the need to activate student exchange programs. To this end, we have opened an Arabic language program and have received an application for an English language program. We aim to expand our collaboration with universities in other countries by offering programs in different foreign languages.
Our institute has established joint protocols with units affiliated to the Bilecik Provincial Governorship and the Provincial Directorate of National Education. These protocols allow for the opening of additional places and the application of tuition fee discounts. For admission to non-thesis master's programs, only the undergraduate average of our students is taken into account. However, for master's programs with thesis, there is a requirement to achieve a minimum score of 55 in ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) in addition to the undergraduate average. Admission to doctoral programs requires a minimum score of 60 in ALES and at least 55 in foreign language exams, in addition to graduate grade point averages. These criteria are the main focus of our student admissions process. The majority of our students studying at the institute hold a bachelor's degree from our university. Additionally, our institute provides training to civil servants working in our province or other provinces. Bilecik is an industrial city, and there is significant interest in our institute from the local industry. To support the career planning of our students, we have established a Career Center within our university. We are also working on cooperation protocols with the Bilecik Governorship, Provincial National Education, and industrial establishments in our province, and have initiated negotiations with the Bilecik Chamber of Commerce and Industry for bilateral cooperation protocols. Furthermore, we are in the process of digitizing the theses produced in our institute. To those interested in studying at our institute, I would like to convey the following message: Bilecik is strategically located, with proximity to major cities and land in four different regions. Our province boasts six organized industrial zones, two of which are in the city center and four in the districts, with plans for the establishment of a third organized industrial zone in the city center underway. Bilecik also has a rich history, being the birthplace of the Ottoman Empire, which offers ample opportunities for research in natural sciences and social sciences in various fields. Our Rectorate is committed to expanding education and training activities, and we eagerly await all student candidates who are interested in pursuing postgraduate education at our institute. I wish success to all students who will be taking the university exam, and I extend an invitation to everyone passing by our campus to visit our institute, even for a cup of tea.
