International Student
Hello, I'm Djaranabi Djibrine ALDJAZOULI. I'm studying Political Science and Public Administration at Istanbul Medeniyet University. I'm in my fourth year. I'm from Chad. I came here in October 2018. Istanbul Medeniyet University was among the universities I applied to. I chose Istanbul Medeniyet University because of its location, being in Istanbul, and being a young university. Before coming to Turkey, I knew about Turkey from TV series and movies. Now I am in Turkey, and my thoughts are different. I have learned that Turkey is a different country than what I had thought. I applied for the Turkey Government Scholarship (Yurt Dışı Vatandaşlar Bursu) program. When applying, I could choose 12 universities. Istanbul Medeniyet University was one of them. I thought, why not apply? I applied mostly to universities in Istanbul. From what I saw, the environment here fascinated me, so I applied to Istanbul Medeniyet University. While I was in Istanbul, while I was at Istanbul Medeniyet University, I found answers to all the problems I encountered. The officials here were very helpful. Especially when we were international students, they were very supportive. So, I didn't have any problems in this regard. When I had a problem, I would go to the administration or ask my professors when I didn't understand something, and I always found an answer. It would be resolved. Istanbul Medeniyet University is a very young university. Academically, both my professors and my friends at the university were very helpful while I was studying. When I didn't understand something, they would say, 'Do you understand the lessons, or if you don't understand, come and ask us. We will help you.' My friends would also ask questions like, 'Do you understand? Cerhun, if you don't understand, we can take notes for you,' and so on. If I had any points I didn't understand, I would ask them. So academically, the university was very helpful to me. We have access to the largest university library in Turkey as one of the facilities available at the university. I believe it has been very beneficial for my academic career, my undergraduate studies. While studying at Istanbul Medeniyet University, socially, I have developed my communication skills a lot. I have taken on various responsibilities with Turkish, Cypriot, and Chadian students. I have even held representation. In this regard, I have developed leadership skills and problem-solving abilities, as well as improving myself in many areas. I have met many people. For all of this, I am very grateful to Istanbul and Istanbul Medeniyet University.
At Istanbul Medeniyet University, there are various activities organized by many universities. There are also numerous activities organized by international or student-led communities. I participate in those activities. In fact, when I first arrived, we had an international student community, and I took part in it. We organized activities such as Bosphorus tours and trips. We were trying to explore the vast city of Istanbul. There are also seminars related to our departments, and I attend them as well. I have participated in these activities, and they have been very beneficial. In Turkey, as you know, there are 81 or 82 provinces. Apart from Istanbul, I have visited about 15 nearby cities. I have visited Ankara, Kayseri, Bilecik, Giresun, Karabük, Denizli, Antalya, among others. While visiting these cities, I encountered completely different environments compared to Istanbul. For example, Istanbul is a very crowded city. It is a city where you can see everyone, people of different languages and colors. But when I went to Ankara, I learned that people there are more calm, as if it is more of an administrative city. Besides that, I also visited Antalya. Antalya felt a bit familiar to me, as the climate there is somewhat similar to my home country. I really liked it. However, when comparing them to Istanbul, they are like different worlds. I believe Istanbul itself is like a country. I am studying Political Science and Public Administration at Istanbul Medeniyet University. I am currently in my final year, and I have one month left until graduation. After graduation, I don't plan to return to my home country immediately. I am considering pursuing a master's degree. It can be in Istanbul or elsewhere in Turkey. If I receive positive responses from the places I applied to, I will continue my studies in Turkey. Istanbul Medeniyet University should be a destination for everyone because it is located in Istanbul. It is a very young university with abundant opportunities. The professors are friendly and student-oriented. I highly recommend it. Almost every program you want to study is available at Istanbul Medeniyet University. For international students, learning Turkish is one of the challenges, but Istanbul Medeniyet University is very helpful in Turkish language learning. The professors are experts in this regard. I strongly recommend it. I wish success to all students who will take the university entrance exam. Make sure to include Istanbul Medeniyet University in your applications. We are also waiting for you in the Political Science and Public Administration department of Istanbul Medeniyet University. Excellent professors and a wonderful environment await you. I wish you success in your exams. Good luck!
