Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts

I'm Melike Coşkun. I am a student of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department. The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts was established with the aim to teach culinary culture in terms of quality and aesthetics, and to create career opportunities in the field of gastronomy and culinary arts. In addition, it aims to train qualified executive chefs for food and beverage businesses such as hotels and restaurants. Our courses consist of theoretical and applied courses. Examples of these courses are Culinary Knowledge and Applications, Nutrition Principles, International Cuisine, Turkish Cuisine and General Tourism. Our school's practice hotel has a modernly equipped practice kitchen and a restaurant. Apart from this, we have 2 computer laboratories for automation lessons in the school building. There is a graduation project course in the last year of our department. Within the scope of this course, we prepare an undergraduate thesis and gain academic experience under the supervision of our experienced teachers. Graduates of our department can find the opportunity to become entrepreneurs by establishing their own businesses. I chose this department because I think it is suitable for my own character and personal aspects and I consider myself as being talented in this field. I chose Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University because it provides a good education in the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. In addition, the fact that Tokat is a gastronomical heaven, also affected my preferences. After graduation, I want to gain some experience and pursue a career in pastry. I recommend students who will choose our department to take advantage of the professional experience opportunities that our school provides them with.
