Faculty of Islamic Sciences

I'm Merve Aktas. I am a 4th year student at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Faculty of Islamic Sciences. Our faculty was established in 2012. It is located on the Taşlıçiftlik campus. The aim of our faculty is to teach students basic Islamic subjects such as faith, worship and morality and enable them to apply these in their future careers. In our department, courses such as Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Quran, Islamic History, Sociology, Philosophy are provided. In our faculty, there are 2 computer rooms, a hall, music classroom and a library and reading room with approximately 25 thousand books and journals. The students of our faculty teach in schools within the scope of the Teaching Practice Course. When we graduate from our department, we can basically work as a religious officer in the Presidency of Religious Affairs, teach and instruct in formal and non-formal education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. In addition, we can work as an academician in higher education institutions by receiving postgraduate education. I chose my department because I’m interested and I chose this department in order to learn our religion correctly from the right sources and transfer this knowledge to other people. I chose Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University for its student-centered and great academic staff. I aim to become an academic by receiving postgraduate education after graduating. My advice to students who will come to our faculty is to improve their skills by reading articles and books related to our field, not just textbooks.
