Hello, I'm Sümeyra Karasu. I am a student of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of History. The Department of History was established in 1992. It is located in the Taşlıçiftlik Campus. There are undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in our department. The aim of our department is to train academicians in the field of history. It aims to train knowledgeable and contemporary scientists with social, cultural and historical awareness in this field. You can optionally take a preparatory class in our department. Some of the courses of our department are Ottoman History, Ottoman Turkish, Ancient Mesopotamian History, Medieval European History, New Age European History, Modern European History, Great Seljuk History, History of the Republic of Turkey. In addition, there are sub-study groups on Caucasus, Balkans and Middle East studies in our department. In addition, sub-group studies on Cultural History, History of Identity and Nationalism, History of the Balkans, History of the Caucasus, Mediterranean and Middle East Studies are also provided in our department. There are reading rooms, computer workshops and a library in our department. Exchange programs such as Erasmus, Farabi, Mevlana are available for our university students and internship opportunities are also available within these programs. The students of our department can work in the academy by receiving graduate education. They also have the opportunity to find jobs in the Presidency State Archives and related ministries, the Ministry of Culture and private sectors. I chose Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University because of its deep-rooted history and because its academic staff consists of experts. Since I’d like to work in the academy after I graduate, I aim to work in this field. We have a vast and well-equipped library in our university, and I recommend that our students make use of this library. I recommend students to use this library. I recommend candidates who will choose us to make use of the physical and social facilities provided by our university. I wish success to the candidates who will take the exam.
