I said that Trakya University is the biggest institution in the region. It is an institution with the largest budget. We have 8 different campuses in Edirne.Within the districts, we have units in Keşan, Havsa, Uzunköprü, İpsala and Enez. Thus, we are an institution with the largest indoor space in the city.The building we are currently in, housing the rectorate, is the Balkan Campus. This is a great campus built on an area of 5000 hectares.Apart from that, Edirne is lucky on one particular aspect: we have 3 historical buildings. Recently a new building has been added.The Train Station, which is the work of Architect Kemalettin, is a magnificent creation. Mr. Kemalettin works is now employed in the Faculty of Fine Arts in our university.Our Faculty of Architecture was an old military school where many important figures received education. Sarayiçi was used as the private garden of the palace and the area where the cavalry regiments were located is now the Vocational School of Technical Sciences. Recently, the General Directorate of Foundations has transferredlocal Italian Church to our university.
It will be operationalised within the Faculty of Architecture. As you see we also campuses with historical value. We have a big campus in Ayşekadın.We have the Ahmet Karadeniz Campus, it is located in an area across the highway. We have 3 campuses in Keşan. Two of our departments are located on the Uzunköprü campus.We have a campus in Havsa with a particularly large perimeter. We have a social facility in Enez that can offer a holiday by the sea.We have a vocational high school in Ipsala that has significant accomplishments in the region. There, Trakya University is an institution that covers the whole of Edirne. The university is established in many fields in the context of which it provides quality education and services.Our university is the city's biggest dynamic. When 40 thousand of our students go away for the summer vacation, the city stands like a mill with no water.Streets become plain and crowds become few. Indeed, when September comes and courses begin, the streets become lively again with youthful excitement filling the streets, the economy is revitalized and life gains a cheerful tone. It would not be wrong to say that the university is the biggest dynamic of the city.The fact that Trakya University employs 5 thousand people and has 42 thousand students is its greatest economic strength. Apart from this, we established cooperation between our university and the industry under the 3+1 system.Our students do internships in industrial organizations. Trakya University is the heart of Edirne. Consider the central population of 180 thousand people here, with 40 thousand students and 5 thousand employees, Trakya University creates the biggest mobility and economy. It also overlaps with the city in every sense, with its conservatory, the Faculty of Fine Arts, and the seminars and activities that each faculty of the university organizes differently. The university realizes projects that meet the needs of the city. It always stands together with the city with its social responsibility projects. In this regard, we have established a center for social responsibility projects. Our 40 thousand students are thinking about which social responsibility project they can do for the city. Our students participate in all possible projects with the families of martyrs, the elderly, children and the disabled. In particular, they shared very important projects with disadvantaged primary school children. In terms of industry, our students stand together with the city. At the same time, all of our professors are scientifically interested in the needs of the city in every possible field. For example, the Faculty of Social Sciences studies the history of Edirne and the problems of Edirne. The scientific theses produced in the Engineering Faculty examine the problems of the existing industrial organizations of the city.Thus, the university, like a doctor, constantly examines the city and takes care of its needs, intervening where necessary.We can say that our university and Edirne complement each other. The General Directorate of Credits and Dormitories has a very high dormitory capacity for our students. Apart from this, there are private dormitories and different areas for accommodation in the city. Housing is not a problem for Edirne.Apart from this, there are sports fields, concert areas and more than 10 student clubs. In these student clubs, many students can come together and do activities in different fields.We especially care about student activities. We care about student music clubs. There are diving clubs, there are sports clubs. We support them in every way and want them to be active. At the same time, we want them to realize their social responsibility projects. We provide a wide range of sports opportunities with indoor swimming pools, tennis courts and football fields. Apart from that, it is at the service of students with its library that is open 24/7 and even with its library in two different locations. During exam periods our students oftentimes study at night and we support them by providing nutritional treats. We can say that students can easily find almost anything they are looking for because a student-oriented life has developed here. Since it has been a university city for a long time, the private sector also caters to the students’ needs. Any new student will be very satisfied here. Surveys and studies show that Edirne is one of the most beautiful and satisfying university cities.
