Hello, I am Dr. Alev AKPINAR BORAZAN, and I have been actively working at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University since its establishment in 2008. Currently, I am serving as the director of our esteemed Biotechnology Application and Research Center since 2020. With a strong academic background, including a master's degree in Food Engineering from Hacettepe University in 1989, a degree in Chemical Engineering from Anadolu University in 1999, and a PhD program completed in 2008, my research focus has been on the evaluation of Fermentation, Antioxidant, and Secondary Metabolites, with an emphasis on their reintroduction to the body and the development of value-added products through waste evaluation.The Biotechnology Research Center was established in accordance with the Official Gazette publication dated 23rd February 2015 and numbered 29276. As a multidisciplinary center, our main objectives are to support advanced undergraduate students, graduate students, and biology or bio-based employees affiliated with our institution. We provide training on the use of various devices necessary for their education, and we actively participate in fundamental research projects and their implementation. Our center collaborates with diverse faculties within our university, including the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Agriculture, Health Sciences, Vocational School of Health Sciences, Graduate School of Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, and even archeology, depending on the research focus.In addition, our graduate and doctoral students who are enrolled in our graduate institute can always avail themselves of the Biotechnology Research and Application Center in our university to assist them in their research endeavors. We are dedicated to promoting cutting-edge research, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and providing a conducive environment for scientific exploration and innovation.
The Biotechnology Application and Research Center is a well-equipped facility with expert staff that yields positive results. Students who wish to utilize the center should first apply to the relevant master's and doctoral programs in faculties such as Agriculture, Science, Medicine, and Engineering at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. Once enrolled, our doors are always open to you. At the Biotechnology Application and Research Center, you will find a place where you can seek answers to your questions, envision the future, and pursue your dreams.Our center boasts a wide-ranging infrastructure that allows for work five days a week, with extended hours on certain days and in specific laboratories. Among our advanced equipment are PCR devices for DNA reproduction, Gel electrophoresis devices for RNA, DNA, and protein separation, imaging systems for genetic material and protein analysis, volatile oil extraction devices for obtaining oils and lipids from various sources, and nitrogen tahini devices for tahini content analysis. We also have phyloimeters and limonimeters for optical readings of substances, as well as spectrometers that provide information on substance composition, quantity, and other properties. Our plant growing room, equipped with temperature, light, humidity, and air flow control, is a crucial component of our infrastructure.Additionally, our center houses various auxiliary devices such as ovens, mixers, pH analyzers, and cabinets in our vehicle park, which are essential for researchers' preparatory work.
