Faculty of Dentistry

Hello friends, I am Berna Kahraman. Baskent University Faculty of Dentistry Fourth grade student. Dentistry is a department which everyone has a general knowledge about already. However, I can shortly summarize it as: Dentistry is a department which protects the health of the mouth and chin tissues and can be intervened when damaged.
In our faculty, we study the first three years at Baglıca Campus, and the following two years are with internships at Bahcelievler Baskent Hospital. In general, the first three years consist of heavy fundamental knowledge,followed by clinical subjects. The first three years consist of preclinic laboratory, phantom laboratory, plaster, molding, and porcelen laboratories are present.
We work to develop our hand skills in our preclinical laboratories.Plaster, molding and porcelain laboratories accomapany preclinic.In the phantom laboratory, we communicate with the patient, from our position in front of the patient to our behaviour toward the patient, the way we need to react to the patients’ reflexes and how we should control this, is the kind of education we receive and it is where we make our final preparations for the internships.In the second semester of the 3rd grade is when our contact with the hospital together with our observations begin. But 4th and 5th grade is when we are totally at the hospital. This is when we are looking after patients completely. Our lessons are there.And the 4th and 5th grade is where we actually feel like real doctors. Once graduated from our department, one can very easily find employment in dental health centres, private sector, i.e. clinics, and hospitals.In other words, Başkent University has seerious advantages in this sense. However, students who wish to take the specialist exam can do so of course, in which Başkent University has serious success in the specialist exams in the dentistry profession.At the same time, I think hat friends who are not thinking of specialising can also achieve serious success.Because our faculty is in close contact with other faculties, the Ankara Dentists’ Chamber, and very effective in Ankara Dentists’ Room.I chose the dentistry department because of my interest in the profession.Başkent University has very good academic staff, and at the same time they have serious success in the dental specialization exams. This was the reason for my choice. Başkent University is a university that is generally known for offerring serious opportunities for successful students in the specialist exams, but I want to talk about some of the more unknown things.In our school, what we benefit most of is that we can communicate one on one with our teachers, including our Dean.And even our Dean coming into our classes and pay attention to each student individually.I benefit most from this whether it be in internship, preclnical and phantom laboratories.After graduation I would like to enter the specialist exams and after a good success I would like to become a specialist in a good faculty.Dentistry is already a difficult department and one that you definitely need the support of your teachers from. In my opinion Başkent University makes a big difference in this sense.I think this is enough reason for Başkent University to be chosen. I would like to welcome to the Başkent family our friends who will make Başkent University their choice.
