Department of Computer Engineering

Hello, friends, I am Arzum Berrak ARIBAL. I am a Computer Engineering student at the Faculty of Engineering. Let me first tell you a little about Computer Engineering. Computer Engineering is a science that deals with the structure of systems, design, development, and the way these systems are utilized. In the first year of the Faculty of Engineering we take such basic engineering-like courses as mathematics and physics. After that we develop ourselves in two different basic sectors such as software and hardware. We take hardware courses like Microprocessors and software courses like Java. If I need to mention the computer labs, shortly speaking, we have joint laboratories in the first year, where we took all the engineering-like programming courses. We have a single laboratory such as operating systems and applications laboratories, Microprocessor laboratories that we use during the Microprocessors course and digital logic laboratories. If we come to internship and graduation projects, we have a compulsory internship at the end of 2nd and 3rd year. We also take part in two final projects in order to implement the theoretical knowledge we have learned and in order to take part in a broader project in the final year. When I graduate from the department, the business areas I can work in, especially, because we have a profession related to technology, will have a very wide range. We can work with software, hardware in every aspect in many places such as tourism, banking, hospitals. We can develop a game. Starting with the simplest - phones, software engineers create many applications that we write on the phones. We can take part in many such areas. Friends, later on our video another friend of mine, who is currently studying at our department, will briefly talk about the experiences he went through, while studying at this department of Başkent University.
Hello friends, my name is Tunahan BULUT. I am a 3rd year student in the Department of Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering. I got interested in computer engineering in a college introductory program which I attended in high school. After some research on the Internet, I have chosen this department. The primary reason for which I preferred Başkent University was that this university was a long-established university and because the academic staff was young and dynamic. I also can say that the physical opportunities offered to us are also too much. While I was studying at our department, I benefited most from the opportunities offered to us by the academic staff. We get this chance because of the young age of our academic staff, and as a result of the fact that they follow the new technology and have a lot of knowledge experience. In addition, we can experience the theoretical knowledge we observe in the classroom, in the laboratory environment. If I wished to talk about my goals after my graduation, I would say that I would like to work as a software development specialist at a long-established firm. My recommendations to friends, who would prefer Başkent University are: firstly, to come to university and participate in the introductory days, besides, to do research on our profession and to firmly attach it to their goals. I would like to wish good luck to prospective students, who are thinking of joining this department at Başkent University.
