Major of Internal Diseases Nursing

I graduated from Cumhuriyet University Department of Nursing in 1998. I started my academic career in the Department of Nursing in Bozok University School of Health. I completed my master's in 2003 and doctorate in 2011 in the Department of Internal Diseases Nursing in Erciyes University Institute of Health Sciences. I received my associate degree in 2017. I started working in Izmir Bakırçay University Department of Nursing in 2019. I have been working as the Head of Department of Internal Diseases Nursing ever since. As of February 2020, we have started our master's degree education at the Department of Internal Diseases Nursing in Graduate Education Institute. Our Department started by accepting its first students in the spring semester of 2019-2020 academic year. We have not yet had any graduates. We have approximately 16 students and are planning to start our doctorate education as of this term. The aim of the programme is to increase the level of knowledge of nurses working in the field of Internal Diseases Nursing and continue the care for chronic patients with practices that are based on proof. We especially aim to educate nurse candidates who guide patients and patients' relatives in dealing with problems that they face with practices based on proof in terms of symptoms that emerge in chronic diseases as well as protection from chronic diseases. The students who wish to choose this programme must have a bachelor's degree. Then they need to meet the criteria for entering graduate programmes determined by the Council for Higher Education. We accept students based on their ALES, foreign language exam scores and their GPA scores as well as a written and verbal exam conducted to assess the occupational and general knowledge of the student. In our programme, especially in the area of symptom management in chronic diseases, we aim to carry out national and international projects with our faculty members as well as the master's students and contribute to symptom management in this field. We aim to equip the candidates in our programme with knowledge with which they can develop practices based on proof in the field of internal diseases nursing, and after they gain this knowledge, we aim for them to work in the field to prevent chronic diseases, enabling symptom management in the case of a disease thereby increasing compliance to treatment, and to provide solutions for problems faced by the patient and patient relatives in this process. We would love to see newly graduates as well as those who has clinical experiences in our master's programme.
