Department of Chemistry Education
Greetings, I'm Betül ACAR, a 4th-year chemistry teaching student. Our department aims to educate academicians and chemistry educators who possess comprehensive knowledge of chemistry and chemistry education, utilize this knowledge effectively, continuously develop themselves, and uphold the principles and reforms of Atatürk. Our curriculum comprises general culture courses, educational sciences, and field-specific courses.
We cover a wide range of subjects, including analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, and laboratory courses. Within our faculty, we have chemistry laboratories where our faculty members conduct scientific research, as well as separate laboratories where we participate in our own courses. As part of our practical training, we complete internships in high schools that are arranged for us by our institution.
Upon graduation from our department, we are qualified to teach chemistry in high schools and private institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. I personally chose this department due to my passion for chemistry and the encouragement I received from my teachers. Balıkesir University's Necatibey Faculty of Education appealed to me because of its high-quality education and its established reputation as a university.
As chemistry is inseparable from experimentation, laboratories hold significant importance for us. We have access to well-equipped laboratory facilities provided by our university, which enable us to enhance our practical skills. After completing my studies, my goal is to take the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS) and work as a chemistry teacher in high schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education.
To become a proficient teacher, it is crucial to receive a solid education. Therefore, I recommend considering the Necatibey Education Faculty to prospective students who are aspiring to become teachers. I extend my best wishes to all candidates preparing for the university entrance exam. We warmly welcome you all to Balıkesir University.
