Department of Industrial Engineering

Hello. I'm Çağla KUŞKU. I'm a fourth-year student in the Industrial Engineering Department at Balıkesir University's Faculty of Engineering. Our department is located at the Çağış campus of Balıkesir University's Faculty of Engineering. The aim of our department is actually to enhance students' analytical intelligence. It aims to provide the knowledge and skills required to identify errors in systems, generate solutions for these errors, and even create new systems. Courses on operations research, production planning, computer programming, simulation, and efficiency analysis are offered. As a department, we make more use of computer laboratories, which allows us to reinforce our theoretical and practical understanding of engineering programs. As industrial engineering students, we have a total of 50 working days of mandatory summer internship. This includes 10 days of free internship, 20 days of workshop internship, and 20 days of industry internship. Through these internships, we get to familiarize ourselves with different departments, enabling us to choose what suits us best. In our graduation projects, we collaborate with advisor teachers whom we choose. We decide on a project topic, and they provide us with great support along the way. The scope of industrial engineering's job opportunities is truly vast. We can work in different sectors and departments, such as manufacturing, services, logistics, information technology, and automotive industry, to give an example. The main reason I chose industrial engineering is the wide range of job opportunities it offers. Industrial engineering is a field of engineering that requires both social and numerical intelligence. I chose this department because I believe I can further develop myself in this field. I consider Balıkesir University to be a proper institution. I had heard a lot about this university from people around me before coming here, and I believed that I could improve myself here. Additionally, the location of Balıkesir was an important factor in my decision. That's why I chose Balıkesir University. While studying in the department, I make the most of the library, the teaching staff, student clubs, and the youth center. After graduation, my primary goal is to pursue a master's degree. Then, I aim to start and continue my career as an industrial engineer. I am truly happy because I chose both industrial engineering and Balıkesir University. I have never regretted it. For those who will make their choices, I can recommend that achieving success in our courses is essential, but they also need to develop themselves socially. They can learn foreign languages and enhance their skills in design, software, and other areas. These will be highly beneficial to them. Balıkesir University has always been a supportive institution for students in this regard. I wish success to the candidates who will take the university entrance exam.
