Department of Mathematics

Greetings, my friends! I am Buse Karaca, currently in my third year at the Department of Mathematics, Balıkesir University. The Department of Mathematics was established in 1993 within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, located at the Cagis Campus. Our department aims to provide students with a solid foundation in mathematics and enhance their ability to think abstractly and engage in mathematical analysis, enabling them to excel in their professional endeavors.
Within our department, we offer undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Our dedicated lecturers teach various courses such as Algebra and Number Theory, Foundations of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Geometry, Topology, and Analysis and Theory of Functions. Additionally, we have a well-equipped computer laboratory that serves as a platform for undergraduate, graduate, and department seminars.
Graduates of our department are presented with abundant job opportunities. They can pursue careers in education, informatics, trade and finance, banking, and research and development (R&D). Furthermore, they have the option to continue their education and pursue an academic career. The Department of Mathematics at Balıkesir University is accredited by FEDEK (Arts and Sciences Faculties Accreditation Board), which played a significant role in my decision to choose this department. The accreditation serves as an added advantage, particularly for those interested in pursuing an academic path.
I firmly believe that with the guidance of our accomplished academic staff, I will acquire profound mathematical knowledge and skills to shape my future. My ultimate goal is to become an academician, and therefore, I plan to pursue a graduate degree to further my education in this field.
It is crucial for students to pursue studies in a field they are genuinely passionate about. I do not recommend anyone to choose a field that does not bring them happiness. Students interested in joining our department should possess a genuine passion for mathematics, along with research and analytical skills.
