Department of Nursing

Hello, I am Edanur ZAİMOĞLU, a third-year student at Balıkesir University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing. The nursing department focuses on the promotion, protection, and improvement of public health, and it trains healthcare professionals accordingly. Our curriculum includes a range of courses such as nursing fundamentals, internal medicine, women's health, pediatrics, mental health, and public health. Our university provides well-equipped laboratories for all departments, including a dedicated nursing professional skills laboratory. As part of our program, we have both semester and summer internships, with one day a week during the semester and a duration of 20 days in the summer. Upon graduation, nursing graduates can pursue careers in various settings such as private or public institutions, community health centers, family health centers, or nursing homes for the elderly.
I personally chose the nursing department because I have a passion for helping people, and I believe that this profession offers opportunities not only in Turkey but also worldwide. Balıkesir University stood out to me due to its young and dynamic academic staff, as well as its well-equipped laboratories and practical learning opportunities. Throughout my studies, I have greatly benefited from these facilities, as well as our extensive library resources. Additionally, our faculty provides social and sports activities for students to enjoy, should they wish to participate. Following my graduation, my goal is to pursue a master's degree and gain professional experience abroad.
For prospective nursing students, I highly recommend thoroughly researching the profession and possessing qualities such as composure, patience, and empathy, as well as the ability to handle crises effectively. Students who possess these qualities will find the nursing department to be a suitable choice. I extend my best wishes to all candidates preparing for the university entrance exam.
