Department of Computer Engineering

Greetings, my name is Seyfettin NARMAN. Currently, I am a third-year student pursuing Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering in Balıkesir University. Computer Engineering is a specialized field of engineering that focuses on the design, development, and utilization of computer systems. It encompasses tasks such as system design, hardware and software development, and thorough testing.
During the initial two years of our program, we receive a comprehensive foundation in engineering principles. As we progress into the third and fourth years, we have the opportunity to delve into specialized subjects such as advanced internet programming, mobile programming, artificial intelligence, embedded systems, image processing, web design, and data mining. These courses allow us to acquire expertise in specific areas of computer engineering.
At our department, we have dedicated laboratories for digital design, electronics, hardware, software, microcontrollers, and computer networks. These facilities provide us with hands-on experience in the practical aspects of computer hardware and software development. Furthermore, as part of our curriculum, we are required to complete a 40-day internship during our second, third, and fourth years. Additionally, internship opportunities within the TEKNOKENT, located on our campus, further enhance our practical skills.
Upon graduating as computer engineers, various career paths open up to us, including network management, cyber security, game development, mobile application development, artificial intelligence, and data analysis. Furthermore, computer engineering offers the flexibility to work as freelancers, allowing us to choose our working hours and location.
I personally chose to study computer engineering because of its promising prospects and stable job opportunities in the ever-evolving technological world. Balıkesir University stood out to me due to its reputable status as a well-established institution, the student-friendly and affordable nature of Balıkesir city, and its proximity to my hometown. Throughout my studies, I have greatly benefited from the well-equipped laboratories and our extensive library, which provides a wide range of resources.
Following graduation, my ambition is to pursue a career as a web developer and advance my expertise in this field. For prospective candidates interested in computer engineering, I highly recommend prioritizing foreign language proficiency, cultivating a passion for coding, and continuously striving to improve their technological skills. Moreover, I encourage students joining our university to engage in competitions like TEKNOFEST and actively participate in social clubs and organizations.
